Three floors up and beware the timed lights in the stairwell if you arrive after dark! What a delight and relief when you finally open the front door to a most beautifully furnished and decorated two bedroom apartment. A well appointed kitchen with cooking equipment and utensils for a feast (should you so desire) together with a fridge with food and drink for our immediate needs. The washing machine though seemed to take an extraordinary length of time to complete its cycle. Bedrooms had generous wardrobes with a double bed in one and two singles in the other, each covered with pretty quilts. A very clean tiled bathroom with an enclosed shower (no bath, but that suited us) where even the toilet rolls were provided. The large living area with two comfortable sofas led onto an even bigger balcony which had ample room for the three sunbeds, dining table and four chairs as well as built in barbeque. Although surrounded by other dwellings, the terrace had a good view of the sea and both harbours (if you craned your neck). Despite the other apartments it did not feel too overlooked. The smaller bedroom looked out onto the swimming pool which, whilst appearing very inviting, was deserted in November, no doubt a quite different story in summer.
My wife and I, both in our mid 70s decided not to hire a car and being reasonably fit were able to easily walk the 15mins to the town centre and harbour and in the other direction to the main, excellently stocked, supermarket. The store also sold several varieties of freshly cooked meals which we found ideal for our 'nights in'. There were other mini markets within 5 mins walk and several restaurants no more than 10 mins away.
Getting around by taxi was easy and relatively cheap. The best value was taking a shared taxi to Nicosia - only 4.5 lira pp. each way!
Each apartment had its own parking space and next time we will probably hire a car (which the owner can arrange beforehand) to see more of this delightful part of the island.
All in all, thoroughly recommended to families of all ages except, naturally, those who have problems with stairs.
Having moved onto the south of Cyprus for the following seven days we realised even more how lucky we were to have found Jacky's property CY23.
