If you, like us, have never done the vacation rental thing, start now! We were so apprehensive, but Julian was quick to respond to emails and phone calls, and he put us totally at ease. We arrived early in the morning on the 17th of August, dead on our feet, and were pleasantly surprised when we walked through the door. Beautifully layed out, tastefully decorated, and oh, the magnificent views! We were even more pleased when we immediately lay down on the bed. It is BEYOND comfortable! Be prepared though, as its not like a hotel, in that there are leftovers from other guests in the fridge/freezer, and if you run out of toilet paper, get on down to Walgreens. LOL The good thing is that its literally only a few doors down if you need anything. If you like to cook, there are basics in the cupboards. And if you forget your hairdryer and curling iron as I did, these are located under the sink! YAY! I think the only thing that wouldve made this apartment even better would be 1)for it to be a little cleaner (there was a pile of yuckies behind the toilet) and a stackable washer/dryer combo. We arent used to re-using our towels. LOL I know the previous reviews mentioned the Empire State Building, but, I have to reiterate, what an amazing neighbor! It is literally right next door, and right outside our window (from 21B). The apartment is located on 33rd Street, Midtown Manhattan, in a lovely and safe area. It is close to pretty much everything you want to see! We walked everywhere til about the third day, when our feet were complaining! LOL We saw all of the usual touristy things, and we ate at some fabulous restaurants! We recommend Peter Luger Steakhouse in Brooklyn (about 15 minutes via taxi) the steak just melts in your mouth! We also tried Le Cirque (dont bother) and Bobby Flays Mesa Grill, which was FANTASTIC. We dont recommend taking the subway unless you for SURE know where you are to get off. We loved the carriage ride thru Central Park! (accessible at Central Park South) The Statue of Liberty was amazing (get tickets online!) Taxis were always easy to hail. They even take credit/check cards, which we found hilarious! The drivers are so friendly, and made us feel comfortable. We were nervous upon departure, wondering if we should book a car service because we had to leave early in the morning (4am) to catch our flight at JFK. But we walked outside to find not just one taxi, but 2. Cant WAIT to visit again! Thanks Julian!
