Mercer holiday cottage

Yep, you heard it right, my family and I have been coming up to Mercer for years now. It is our summer wonderland. To give a quick review from my sons who have gone to Mexico, Hawaii, Bahamas, Florida and other places during our Spring Break, they said "those places are okay but we'd rather go to Mercer". The owner is terrific, there is a reason Debbie and Tom are called "caretakers". It's an appropriate word. The people in town embrass you as a friend, not a tourist, and I also would swear that the deer come out to greet you on a daily basis. The house and cottage are both beautiful. This is my home away from home (in fact, I'd rather live there than my own home). Our day starts with fishing in the morning, swimming and tubing in the afternoon, more fishing, dinner and then a nice evening telling stories at the outdoor firepit. The owner added cable television and we don't even use it. My sons brought up X-box and Playstation and they didn't even unpack them, really, why?? The fresh air, great smells of pine that surround you, the physical activity and then slumber, no t.v., no electronics, and no movies, and this is by their choice, not mine. When we do watch television, it's to go to town to watch our hometown baseball game and share the fun with some of the people in town. You can get your fishing licence at the Trading Post, right across the street is the Wamcom shop where you can find gifts for those at home, Johnny's is a great place to grab a beer and cheese curds, The Pines is good for pizza and great German food (no dress code either), The grocery store is just down the road and you can get everything you need- food, wine and beer (even fresh fish if you don't like to catch them yourself), there is a great specialty shop just right out of town that has unique items such as art, glass wear, jewelry etc.
If you'd like to do more shopping you can go to 30 miles South but really, why??? Everything you need and want is in a 5 mile radius. I've never been up in the winter but I can only imagine it would be stunning.
So, that's my review and no, I wasn't paid to write this, I just truly love it. I was taught to share and this is one place worth sharing. If you go, I can guarantee that if you love tranquility, fishing, swimming, family, fun, laughter, memories, beauty, comfort, and family tradition, this is without a doubt the place for you to embrass all of these things.
