Large Victorian home on 4 acres overlooking Frenchman's Bay in charming coastal community of Hancock Point. This roomy house is ideal for family gatherings, providing plenty of room to be together, or to sit quietly and enjoy a good book. The large (4-acre) lot provides privacy and plenty of room for children to play, and is only one block from the water. The first floor has a large eat-in kitchen, with table seating for 10. Kitchen includes two stoves and ovens (one is Jenn-Aire) and two refrigerators. Formal dining room seats 12. Adjoining living room and parlor. Two TV's and 2 VCRs. Screened porch. Deck on 3 sides, including large back deck with seating for 10 and beautiful view of Frenchman's Bay. Second floor has 5 bedrooms, three w/porches. Master BR has attached bath w/Jacuzzi tub & shower. Two bathrooms have extra large clawfoot bathtubs, one w/shower added in 2009. Laundry room on 2nd floor. Third floor has 3 bedrooms including one with view of Mt Desert Island.

Hancock Point is a classic summer community surrounded by water. The beautiful 'Point' includes a boat harbor (sailing lessons available), tennis courts (lessons also available), historic library, chapel, and post office all within an easy walk. Great for riding bikes or walking. Kayak rental also available. The nearby Crocker House Country Inn offers fine dining and additional guest accommodations. Other excellent dining opportunities within five miles. Just 25 charming miles away is Mount Desert Island with Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Also nearby are several freshwater lakes for fishing, boating, swimming, and hiking, as well as a public golf course. The town of Ellsworth with shopping (including L.L. Bean), restaurants, movies, and entertainment is just 15 minutes away. The Pierre Monteux conducting school offers evening concerts within 10 minutes. The perfect vacation get-away!

Perfect for a family gathering

I rented this house with two sisters and our families (13 of us in all) for a week in Aug/Sept 2009. The house is just as advertised with lots of room for entertaining, both inside and out. We were on Hancock Point for a wedding and had over 30 people for dinner twice during our stay. The kitchen was very well equipped. The owner was most helpful and truthful with info about the house and activities in the area. We had good weather, but this is a house which could accommodate a crowd on a rainy day. This is a great house for people who want to enjoy the pleasures Down East Maine has to offer without spending alot of time in front of the TV or in the bathroom.

Great location for a large family vacation

This is a beautiful older home with plenty of space to spread out. We spent a lot of time on the deck and in the screen porch. The large kitchen and dining room accomodated all 17 of us for meals and gathering time.

The only drawback was the limited shower capacity with one in the master bath and one in the storage room off of the kitchen that was a little questionable.

It is a short walk to the pier and beach which we really enjoyed.
