This lovely house is on a hilly lane with a small car park opposite. It has been built solidly into the rock face & is tall and narrow with wonderful views from the bedroom windows & roof terrace. As you enter the house, your first sight is of its very own cave, an old cellar constructed into the rock! You then walk up to the salon, an oak beamed room with wood burning stove, sofa and chairs. Beyond this is the large kitchen with its balcony, which looks out into the heart of the village. This is equipped for people who like to cook, with lots of worktop space, pans and sharp knives! The large wooden table can seat 8, and is a very convivial place for dinner. On the same floor there is a bedroom with double bed & a shower room with toilet. Upstairs there is another shower room, 3 single bedrooms, & one double, all lovingly furnished & facing out over the village rooftops to the mountains. From here you walk out to a secluded terrace, a good place to sunbathe or watch the night sky

The Luberon National Park & Pays de Forcalquier is a spectacular area for nature lovers, whether walker, cyclist, photographer, bird watcher or tour. The dramatic landscape changes from stark, bare rock to lush valley floor, wild flowers & blossoming trees in spring, poppies & lavender in summer. The clarity of the light is inspiring in itself. For lazy days in the heat of summer there is swimming in pools nearby or mountain lakes 40 miles away, where windsurfing is also popular. Local activities also include horse riding, tennis & a language school. The medieval town of Forcalquier is nearby, its past importance reflected in the renaissance fountains and grand buildings. The town is overwhelmed each Monday morning with a fabulous market, irresistible to food lovers. Sisteron,Roussillon & Bonnieux are all within easy reach, but Dauphin itself, it's medieval past still apparent, is a lovely village to get to know. Children can safely explore here & adults simply relax & enjoy.

Notes: Dining takes place in the large kitchen. The 2 toilets are in the shower rooms, one on each floor of the house. The roof terrace has a table and seating for 6, and 4 sun loungers. There are lots of books and card and board games, our guests seem not to miss the interference of a television. The house is heated by convector heaters in each room and a large wood burning stove in the living room. Logs are supplied. There are duvets and pillows on the beds, and extra blankets in the cupboards. Sheets and towels can be provided at the following prices; Double bed £8 Single bed £6 Towels per person £6 There is a cot for a small baby on request.

Forcalquier: Forcalquier is the principal town serving the area. There are two supermarkets, and a host of small shops and businesses to tempt your taste buds. The local produce is excellent, especially the lamb, which is raised organically on the prairies and pastures, the tomatoes, and of course, the vast selection of high quality cheeses and wines. The main open market in Forcalquier is on Mondays. This is an event that should not be missed; visitors can explore the multitude of edible products on display, or just sit and relax in one of the three main café?s located on the market square.

Pays de Forcalquier: Throughout the summer, almost every town has a festival, show, concert, special event or f?te. In addition, there are many interesting architectural sites to see within a thirty minute radius - including churches, monasteries, and the beautiful village of Lurs -a fully restored hilltop village full of artists. The beautiful countryside features some spectacular natural landmarks such as the Canyon of the Verdon.
