This restored 1923 classic San Francisco home is located in the charming West Portal neighborhood, a 'village' full of boutique shopping, great restaurants, movie theatre and all amenities. Just 1/2 block to a major Muni transit line provides instant access to all of San Francisco. The sunny house has living room, formal dining room, kitchen, half bath (toilet & sink), and office/bedroom on the first floor. Gourmet kitchen equipped with every appliance known to man and breakfast nook! Dining room seats up to 12 people. Office/bedroom overlooks the garden. Computer, fax, printer, and DSL connection. Gorgeous patio and city garden with gourmet gas grill. Upstairs master bedroom has double bed, dresser, armoire, chair, and large TV. Guest bedroom overlooks the garden and has double bed, dresser, bookcase full of good reads, and comfy chair. Full bath upstairs with shower/tub. Ten minutes on Muni train to Stonestown Mall for more great shopping. 1.5 miles to Ocean Beach and the Pacific Ocean.

My mother took our family took here. There was six of us. I have a tween and a teen, both loved staying in a house verses a hotel. The neighborhood was great, we had stores, groceries, restaurant, public transportation(we had rented a car). For the price comparision this was a better value for us. The owner of the home was so helpful in ideas for our family while we were here(we just emailed back and forth). She also had tons of info in a binder for her guests. We were close enough to everyting but not right in the city. I recomennd traveling this way to anyone, in fact we are going to Orlando in March and have already booked a townhouse thru this site. This is the best idea I have come across. Thank you and you gotta try it.

Definitely a Home Away

We rented this home for a month while attending the Teacher's Institute at the Exploratorium. The house was nice and the neighborhood was even better. Everything you would want was just around the corner. I really appreciated the quietness of the neighborhood.

The kitchen saved us on meals and being able to do wash on site was great as well.

Just around the corner to the Muni station and you could be anywhere in the city.

The neighbourhood was brilliant. Laid back, friendly and peaceful with good shops and restaurants within 5 mins walk of the house. It was also very easy to get around by public transport (about 15-20 minutes into Union Square by Muni train from the end of the street.) We hired a car for a couple of days and there was easy access both north over the Golden Gate Bridge and south to Monterey etc.

The house was large and lovely - and also full of the owner's things. In some ways this was a bit disconcerting as even the fridge was pretty full of someone else's food. But that's part of staying in someone's part-time home rather than a pure holiday let. I would certainly stay there again.

Great Experience in San Francisco

My family was very comfortable in this home. It was very comfortable and spacious, and the kitchen was great for cooking! We also loved being close to a great little neighborhood with coffee shops and wonderful restaurants.

Thanks again for the use of your house, Donna. A lot of character and plently of room, especially with the basement which was open and light. The family members had a great time and were all glad that your house was located in such a good area with just about everything we needed close by: excellent restaurants, a variety of shops, a huge park, groceries, public transportation, a movie theater. And all within easy walking distance. We also liked the proximity to the beach. I appreciated your simplicity of pricing, the friendliness of your housekeepers, and the thoroughness in your answers to all my questions. Looking forward to a return visit, Ed
