Sag Harbor, the 'unHampton,' offers live theatre, wonderful bookstores and easy access to the glitzy neighbors in East Hampton/Southampton, all while maintaining its identity as an historic whaling town with much of its architecture intact. The local movie theatre offers off-beat, art movies in contrast to the blockbusters offered in East/Southampton. In summer, great bargains can be found at local tag sales, local fishing boats will be happy to offer you a chance to catch fresh bluefish/bass etc., and a farmers market on Saturdays brings you the freshest food imaginable. Plenty of bars and restaurants offer the option of avoiding cooking at home. Off season the fishing continues, bike rides, walks on the beach or in the local nature center provide daytime activities and the fireplace offers a cozy way to end the day. There are two local museums, an excellent children's museum, a nature preserve and local wineries open for tours, all within a 15 minute drive.
