Huge lodge with lots of separate living spaces and bedrooms. Newly restored and expanded/ furnished 1795 charming country Cape Home, 4000 sq ft . Designed for larger groups/ reunions or family vacations. Limitless recreational options in Woodstock/ Barnard. Fabulous skiing and golf. 6 bedrooms, romantic 1st floor king w/ private bath and wood beams, 4 queens, 2 w/ private baths, 2 w/ shared bath, and 20x28 dorm (4 beds) w/ private bath. Total of 5 baths (3 new). Living room is 20x20, wood stove, exposed beams, cathedral ceiling, Pottery Barn furnished w/ satellite TV. Separate FR with 27 inch TV/DVD and ping pong. 'Reading loft' above kitchen/dining room. Dining room w/ original wood beams seats 16, adjoining fully stocked cook's kitchen with stainless Miele/Subzero appliances. Large Ski/mudroom entry with storage. Apple orchard in back! 1 mile to Silver Lake and Barnard. 6 miles to Suicide Six ski area. 10 minutes to Woodstock golf. 30 minutes to Killington. On V.A.S.T. trail.

2 miles to quaint Vermont village of Barnard, sitting on Silver Lake. State Park with facilities including beach, boat rentals and snack bar nearby. Cross country, snowshoe or hike to State park and Lake on well -marked 1 mile trail. Barnard General Store has great food including catering. 'Suicide Six Ski Area' is family oriented ski mountain, owned by Woodstock Inn just 8 minutes away. Woodstock is 14 minutes by car, with extensive recreational facilities open to public, including Robert Trent Jones golf course/ spa / indoor pool. Town of Woodstock has Billings Farm Museum and shops and restaurants. Only 30 minutes to Killington, largest ski mountain in the east with two great golf courses, Green Mountain Natl and Killington. 6 major ski resorts and 5 golf courses within 1 hr. White River is just 10 minutes away, providing tubing and fly fishing. Hanover New Hampshire and Dartmouth College 35 minutes, and only 10 minutes to Rte 89. On V.A.S.T. trail.

Terrific place for large group, great owners

We rented the place for a large group of old college friends (15-20 during the week) for the week before July 4th. It was great. The house was exactly as advertised and as it appears in the pictures, the kitchen, living room, and bedrooms are clean & well-maintained & there is a great book selection. The big rumpus roof on the third floor is a great place for extra people/kids to crash and comes with a ping pong table. The yard is very nice and good for campfires (they provide a fire-pit) and croquet games.

The setting is ideal. Silver Lake State Park is only a mile or so away via a nice trail and is a good place for swimming, basketball, & soccer. In addition, the General Store is 2 miles away and is well-stocked, including a great newspaper selection. Finally, the house itself is on a nice quiet road along a valley with many beautiful barns & houses and is great for running & biking.

All our interactions with the owners were smooth & easy. And, unlike a prior review, we did not have a bug problem. (In any case, there are screen doors). I would highly recommend this house to anyone, especially groups of 10-15+.

Weekend at Barnard Lodge

The description of Barnard Lodge was accurate. A good place for a group of people. The kitchen was well stocked and had a nice table for all eating meals together. The living room was comfortable for all to be together.
We did have a problem with flies while there but the caretaker was very responsive to this problem. Also the owner provided a refund for our troubles.
The lodge is very close to Woodstock and we had a nice time there.
I would recommend this to a friend.
