Machiasport is in Washington County and was incorporated in 1826 from part of old Machias. Indian petroglyphs have been observed at Picture Rocks on Clark's Point. Fort O'Brien guards the entrance to the Machias River at the south end of the main village. Black crowberry and baked-apple berry dot the peat hills that overlook the ocean. A number of game trails run through this sensitive habitat area managed by the Nature Conservancy. The town lies primarily on the west side of Machias Bay as the Machias River enters the bay. It offers many sheltered harbors including the well-known Bucks Harbor. The community is just east of Machias on Maine Route 92.

We spent one week in this very nice house. It's perfect for a family vacation, as you can be together but also have your own separate floor, room, kitchen, bathroom.
Amazing view! Nice little beach nearby! Blueberry field next to the driveway! Great lobster in fishing villages closeby and so much more!
The manager is very nice and available if any problems.
The owner was always reachable by email and we got our safety deposit back within 2 weeks by mail.
Not expansive for such a great location and a house of that size.
Recommended for:  Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway

We just spend a weekend at this house - and what a treat!!
Amazing views, great accomodations and the interior designed with taste and attention to detail worth of a magazine cover!
The house has two separate appartments each one taking an entire floor with 3 bedrooms, a kitchen and a bathroom.
All facilities are in working order (we were concerned after reading one of the reviews).
The owner does not live on the property but the manager lives in the house next door and is available at any time.
I would strongly recommend this property to anybody!
Hope you enjoy it as much as we did!!

The Time of our Lives!

This property has some of the most amazing views that we have ever seen, we are still enjoying them on our screen savers. The house was very clean and everything that was described on the website was accurate. We drove up from Florida and was quite a bit late getting to the house (after 9:30 pm), the property manager met us with the key and showed us around the house and was very friendly. He came back the next day to show us how to access the beach, which is a nice little hike downhill and through the woods. Keep your eyes open you might see a deer or two! The house has everything you would need to have a nice Family vacation. Very nice neighbors and the town of Machias where everyone we met was very friendly. You have to try Helen's resturant! There is so much to see around Machias and Lubec. Try Jasper Beach and Rogue's Bluff Beach in Machias. In Lubec there is West Quoddy Lighthouse that is a must see. Don't forget to just spend a few days enjoying this beautiful property! Overall this was the best Vacation we have had...and we are very glad that we found this property to stay in. Can't wait to go again!!!!
The only down side of this property was that the downstairs bathroom smelled a little damp. We had some pretty cool nights (down in the 30's and 40's in the middle of July) so the pipes and commode tank sweated which made water drip on the floor and rugs. This did not take away from the great vacation memories that we have. We will not hesitate to rent this property again.

We had a great time!

This was a really nice house, and we really enjoyed ourselves. However that being said the house is not exactly like the description says.
1. The beach is a rocky coast that is nearly impossible to reach from the house, down a steep, thickly wooded hill.
2. The two lofts were closed because of water damage, so don't count on those extra beds.
3. The two parts of the house do not directly connect, you must go outside or through the garage to get from one part to another.
4. The kitchens have utensils and pots, but very few, don't count on making an elaborate meal.

There was also a miscommunication with the owner, and no one met us with the property key.

Finally it has been 2 months and I have not been able to get ahold of the owner to get my security deposit back.

The house was honestly very nice, and it was relaxing and a great place to spend with friends, just some misleading information in the description.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Pet-friendly
