Its central location means that day trips of ninety minutes or less provide access to all the highlights of Cape Breton, including Inverness Beach, the Fortress of Louisbourg, the Gaelic College and Cape Breton Highlands National Park. Close to the famous Highlands Links, and other golf clubs. Its idyllic setting is perfect for those wishing to enjoy a host of outdoor adventures, including hiking, sea kayaking, sailing, river-walking, mountain biking, wild blueberry picking, and fishing. Myriad walking trails wind through old-growth forests that are home to abundant wildlife and fragrant flora. Peace inspiring ocean views out towards the Bird Islands. Matheson House is in Indian Brook - a peaceful quaint town with a new rustic lodge with restaurant down the street and campground 1/4 mile from house with basic necessities and restaurant. Baddeck and Ignoish are both 30 minutes drive and contain grocery stores, restaurants, excellent golf courses, entertainment, etc. House is directly on Cabot Trail - and close driving distance to many attractions such as: Cape Breton Highlands National Park, Alexander Graham Bell Museum, the Bird Islands Boat Tour, kayaking tours, and famous hiking trails. Come in the early summer to pick wild blueberries right outside the back door! Come in the Fall to view world famous foliage. Book early to stay in October to attend the world renowned Celtic Colours Music Festival. Rent kayaks from the lodge down the street to use in our large pond that connects to both Indian Brook and the ocean. This is a place you will not forget!
