A short drive from Roque Bluffs beach, and Gardner's Lake, this antique colonial with a lovely view of the East Machias River will be a perfect home for your family vacation. Watch seals, eagles, osprey and many other varieties of birds. Front deck, side farmer’s porch, pretty interior. Machias offers great restaurants ,antique shops, gift shops, pubs, University of Maine facilities, art galleries, etc. We are halfway between Bar Harbor (1 1/2 hr) by car or ferry and Calais/Canadian border. We are also close to Campobello Island, Eastport and Lubec. Whale watching, kayaking (we can arrange a guided tour for you), fishing, hiking (great trails for beginner - advanced) along the rocky coast, lighthouses, lobster, beautiful unspoiled beaches, great beach glass locations, golf, etc. We will show you where to buy the freshest lobster E Machias is on the NEW RECREATIONAL TRAIL for bike riding, walking, ATV, etc. Miles of gorgeous scenery waiting to be explored!!

The Machias area is home to a great many artisans for pottery, paintings, wood carving, fiber arts, etc. Hike on the many trails nearby, fish for bass, salmon, etc., kayak in river, antique shop. The many beaches and lakes are beautiful and not crowded. Wildflowers, beach roses, lupine, daisies, and the blueberry fields make it one of the prettiest places in Maine. We have fine dining within walking distance. This will be your 'home away from home' to relax in after a day of exploring the Downeast area. We will be happy to help you plan trips, as well as recommend restaurants and things to do. We will also stock your kitchen if you let us know ahead of time, or there is plenty of shopping in Machias - 5 miles. Come and visit the quaint village of East Machias. Owners are next door and eager to answer questions, etc. We are looking forward to making your stay a memorable one!

Wildflower Inn: Wildflower Inn opened in 2005. We are a private guest home. Owners, Paul and Marjorie Hartnett live next door WIFI provided (signal depends upon your computer, ask us) We are across the street from the East Machias River, overlooking a beautiful cove with many species of birds. The house has been recently updated from top to bottom and is furnished with comfortable accessories. There is a great recreational trail in East Machias for ATV, bike riding, walking, jogging, etc. Miles of beautiful scenery just waiting for you. We are not handicapped accessible. . .

We think we have succeeded in making the Wildflower Inn a pretty, comfortable place for you to stay. We love this area and would welcome the chance to help you explore it. Life in East Machias is peaceful. There is a lot to do during the day, and wonderful places to visit. We can arrange a kayak trip, whale watch, golf, etc. if you wish.

There are several lobster pounds nearby where the lobstermen bring their catch right to the dock. You can't get lobster any fresher than that -- taste it and see the difference. If this is your first time, we will give you instructions for boiling your own lobster, provide the pot, utensils etc. and tell you how best to eat it from the shell! When you stay at the Wildflower Inn you are able to plan your own schedule, cook your own meals and enjoy your family vacation all together in one large vacation home.

The Perfect Little Vacation Home

We stayed in this cute little home for a week and enjoyed every minute of it. Marjorie and Paul were perfect hostesses. They directed us to various tourist spots and just loved hearing about our daily adventures. Their home was spotless clean and had every single amenity you could wish for. The beds were very comfortable. The property was well maintained and I would not hesitate recommending it to others. We loved eating at Helen's just down the road. This property is a short drive from many tourist locations. We drove to Canada one day to Campobello. It was wonderful. Thanks for providing us with such a wonderful place to stay. Your friends from Utah, Idaho, and Montana.
