Grand Avenue, is popular for its cafes, coffee shops, bakeries, bookstores, art galleries, boutiques, and more. Beyond its architecture and amenities, the neighborhood also earns superlatives for safety: the St. Paul Pioneer Press rated it one of the two safest in the metropolitan area. The winding, tree-lined streets of the immediate neighborhood have earned it the nickname 'Tangletown,' and it is one of St. Paul's most popular neighborhoods. Stretching for four miles through the neighborhood and meandering from the campus to the Mississippi River, Summit Avenue is the longest, best-preserved street of Victorian homes in the nation and a favorite boulevard for walkers, joggers, and cross-country skiers. Perfect for families. We stayed for one week, with enough room and beds for everybody. Only practical comment is the mattresses were typical dorm fare, but adequate. Great location. Elevator is a plus. Central air.
