This air conditioned villa with private pool and off road secure parking is set in a quiet cul-de-sac close to the historic town of Calonge. The villa is located on a flat plot on the hillside urbanisation of Vizcandado de Cabanyes. Although peaceful and secluded the villa is close to the towns of San Antoni, Palamos and Platja D’aro and is convenient for local shops, restaurants, supermarkets and beaches. The villa is equipped to a very high standard and includes air conditioning. A modern separate kitchen leads into the open plan dining and living room. Through the double doors off the dining room you will find our sun room. The garden is completely enclosed. The pool is kidney shaped 8.5 x 4 and is surrounded by a terrace which has the added advantage of a stone built barbeque, a dining and sunbathing area. More table and chairs can be found on the slightly raised terrace which makes for a lovely breakfast or evening drinks spot. Thought and care has gone into every detail.

The medieval village of Calonge is about half way between the French border and Barcelona and within 60 minutes drive of the historic city of Girona. The villa is located on the hillside urbanisation of Vizcondado de Cabanyes. The plot is mainly flat with an extensive area of rock garden to the sides and rear which is home to Peach, Nectarine and Palm trees which attracts wonderful butterflies and birds. The Villa's location offers the contrast of a complete away from it all relaxing by the pool style holiday, alternatively a few minutes drive to the many varied and beautiful beaches and towns, or you can travel further afield to enjoy the wonderful countryside, big cities and animal parks.

Exceeded expectations

We booked at the last minute so were very reliant on the website information. We were not disappointed ! This property has everything that one could want in a holiday villa and on several days, we did not venture out of the gates except for a walk in the surrounding countryside. Usually on holiday we eat out every evening but it was so delightful sitting by the Mariposa pool that we found ourselves cooking/eating there instead. The kitchen is much better-equipped than the average holiday property and there is plenty of local information in the house, including walking routes, local restaurants etc.
The photos give a very good indication of the size and facilities and the local agents were helpful and reliable. We did not have children with us but the villa seemed to be well geared up for families - as well as being ideal for a romantic getaway.
If driving from France, as we were, be sure to leave the motorway at junction 9, rather than following the owner's directions - there is no junction 9A when you are driving southwards ! Given that, Calonge is easy to find and well-situated for exploring the area.
We had a brilliant time and have no hesitation in recommending a visit.

Super relaxed villa

We stayed at lovely Villa Mariposa for just a week. The villa has everything you need for a very relaxing and care free holiday. Then again, what else does one need other than a dip in the pool after getting up? Worth mentioning is the the special shower cabin equipped with music. If we went to the area once more, we would certainly try to rent it again. Very recommendable.

What a great holiday

My family of 7 stayed at the Villa Mariposa for two weeks in August of 2009, the Villa is extremely well kitted out and really is a home from home. The kids loved the pool and the "Secret Trail" around the house where they found some cool lizards and bugs!

We spent most evenings chilling out, cooking some great food on the BBQ, (The Suma Supermarket has the best value meat and fish counters!)

Calonge is a quiet village, and Sant Antoni down the road has some good beaches and eating. There are very few English around so not your typical Brits Abroad, so you do get a feel for the real Spain.

Platja D'Aro is just a few minutes down the road for a livelier evening, and the women enjoyed the shopping there too!

If you are looking for a get away from it all holiday, this is it!

Everything in this villa is fantastic. The villa is spacious , nice, welcoming and has all you need. The swimming pool and the terrase outside are lovely ,the place is very quiet and peacefull., and the owner, Karl is vey nice . We can says that our holidays have been perfect .

My ideal Holiday...at Villa Mariposa

We really enjoyed our vacation at Villa Mariposa, The location of the Villa is quite simply breath taking, having the wonderful mountain backdrop as well as near the beaches of San Antoni and Palamos. What we loved was that the villa was spacious and there was no need to bring anything with us, everything was provided. The villa also had a private pool which was fabulous, we spent many evenings enjoying the pool while barbecuing the local specialities. The area itself is truly amazing, there is lots to do: a day trip to Barcelona, A trip to the Dali museum, quad biking, lots of activities on the beach etc.

It was a wonderful trip and we cant wait to return soon...
