Entering the house: the suroom and kitchen:
The story goes that the sunroom was originally the General Store for the area in the late 1700s; the shelves today display vintage glassware. The sunroom is a bright and cheerful room to curl up with a book in the comfy wicker chair, sort your seashells, or whatever else inspires you. You'll also find assorted outdoor games here: croquet, bocce ball, and horseshoes to take out on the lawn. The adjacent mudroom has a washer/dryer, ironing board, and iron. The kitchen is an awesome family hangoout, with bench seats around the kitchen table and a moose chandelier, exposed antique wooden beams along with beautiful views of Raccoon Cove and Cadillac Mountain. This gourmet country kitchen features coffee and espresso maker, toaster, blender, waffle maker, juicer, ice cream maker, and a variety of pots, pans and utensils, including lobster pot and roasting pans. Microwave, gas stove and refrigerator. Full bathroom with tub/shower off the kitchen.
The living areas and bedrooms:
The living room, den, and dining room are off the kitchen. Each room is painted a different color. Vintage furniture includes incredibly comfy couches, a large desk, and seating for up to six. High-speed wireless internet, radio/CD player, large screen TV, DVD/video player, a selection of books, board games, DVDs for cozy days and evenings. Phone with message machine. Upstairs, the Master Bedroom has a queen bed and a view to the woods; the Green Room has a full bed and a view toward Cadillac Mountain; the Sailors' Room has two twin beds and a similar view. Quality linens and towels all provided. Bathroom with stall shower upstairs. Hairdryer, crib, and highchair available.
Outside:
A front porch under the lilacs provides a serene spot to relax in one of the Adirondack chairs and take in the amazing view. The farmhouse is on two+ acres with lots of open grass and a big red barn. A colorful, fragrant perennial garden attracts butterflies and hummingbirds. The wildlife here is phenomenal: you’re likely to spot eagles and osprey soaring overhead, and a variety of warblers in the woods. We’ve also seen deer and foxes (and a beaver!) on the property. Come dusk, you may hear the drumming of a grouse or the ethereal song of a thrush. Fireflies and crickets also provide lively evening entertainment. And if you’re here in the fall, the autumn foliage is spectacular. Outdoor amenities also include a picnic table, a hammock and umbrella, a charcoal barbecue, a two-person kayak, bicycles, and beach chairs, coolers, and clamming equipment you can take to the nearby beaches.
