Great Lodge

My family had a great time staying at Bjorn Lodge. We usually camp on vacation but were very glad to have a nice dry place to come home to each day after the rain instead of soggy tents.
The lodge was fairly isolated, and a 5 minute walk to the main road with the lake across the road. We choose to put our canoe/kayaks in at a stream a couple miles up the road.
The cabin was as described... beautiful knotty pine living room with fireplace. Very clean. Every time we needed a utensil we would look in the kitchen drawer and find what we needed. The bedrooms were spacious but sound traveled well between the rooms.
We used the indoor fireplace often because of the rain, but were able to have our campfire outdoors the last 2 days. Our grandson loved the big porch where he could run his trucks even though it was raining. It was very handy having a Port-a -Crib, and plenty of lawn chairs.
We all enjoyed the hummingbirds, watching them fight over the feeders. Also enjoyed the call of the loons in the evening. We saw a scarlet tanager in the trees behind the cabin too.
We did some local hikes and Owl's Head in Long Lake. I was sore for a few days, but the view was spectacular from the tower. Buttermilk Falls near Long Lake was really rushing. Other years we have jumped off the rocks, but not this year. One of the reasons we chose the general location was to be in close proximity to Mary's Bakery in Inlet. Wow! Are they ever good donuts. Maple glazed and cinnamon fried cakes are the best, but the cheese danish and puff pastry are very good also. We also recommend pizza from Screaming Eagle.
I have already recommended this cabin to some friends and would be happy to return again.
