Cape's End Cottage is located on the southern tip of Southport Island in the Boothbay Harbor Region of Maine. The cottage has a large deck with views of Newagen Harbor, Cuckold's Lighthouse, Damariscove Island and the open ocean. With two bedrooms (one queen bed, one double bed), one bath (with shower), a living room with plenty of comfortable seating, a large fully equipped kitchen with a dining area, and a brick patio with a gas grill out back, this is a wonderful spot for two couples or a small family to vacation in. It is a short walk from Cape's End Cottage to the town dock, from which the view of Newagen Harbor is absolutely stunning. A five-minute walk in the other direction brings you to the Newagen Seaside Inn and Colony, where they have a dining room open to the public and a great walkway right along the harbor's edge. A five-minute drive along the west side of the island brings you to the Island Store and a little further to a sandy town beach.

Cape's End Cottage is located on the southernmost tip of Southport Island, Maine. Listen to the surf breaking during incoming tides between Cape Island and Hunting Island. View live lobsters sparring on the ocean bed a few feet below the town dock. Tall ships in full sail from around the world often pass by in full view heading to Boothbay Harbor. There are nature trails over moss covered paths free to the public. A protected sandy beach for sun bathing and safe for children overlooks Hendrick's Head Lighthouse. Fishing off many of the bridges draw locals willing to spin a yarn or two for those willing to listen. Dine in the gracious rooms of the Newagen Seaside Inn and Colony for breakfast and dinner. Hear the occasional classical musicians play for you. Sit and watch the sunset at Sunset Rock while the sea washes your cares away. The Cuckold's Island light seen from your bedroom window, distant fog horn, and sweet salt air lulls you to sleep.

  • The rental fee is $750 per week plus 8.5% casual renters state tax for the months of June and September, and $850 per week plus 8.5% casual renters state tax for July and August. Minimum stay is 1 week starting Saturday at 3:00PM thru 10:00AM the following Saturday. Towels and linens can be provided for an additional $25.

Boat Mooring: We also have a boat mooring available suitable for your boat up to 35 feet that includes an 8 foot skiff at the town dock to get to your moored boat as mentioned earlier in the web site. Your boat would be visible from the cottage and protected from the sea in Cape Harbor. If you wish to or need to use a boat launch site, there are two located just off Southport Island and a third boat launch site on Hodgdon Island. All are public access usage with the site on Hodgdon being the easiest launch site to use although to boat ride to the mooring from there depends on the type and size of your boat. Refer to your area map for a better understanding.

The cottage was just as described. A party of 3 women (friends and sisters) had a wonderful time. It was a very nice location. Beautiful view of the harbor. The library was within walking distance and had public internet access available.
I would highly recommend for everyone to take the whale watching tour offered in Boothbay. We actually got to see several whales. Two of them came within 40 feet of the boat.
Cottage is located in a quiet neighborhood.
The weather didn't cooperate a couple of days - so we just played cards - still a very relaxing vacation.
Thank you for renting to us!

THIS IS A LOVELY COTTAGE WITH GREAT VIEWS OF THE HARBOR. THE KITCHEN, LIVING ROOM AND DECK AREA ARE VERY SPACIOUS AND THE COTTAGE WAS CLEAN AND WELL KEPT. EXCELLENT SPOT FOR FAMILIES WITH SMALL CHILDREN.LOCATION IS PERFECT... IT'S PRIVATE AND SERENE BUT IS ALSO A SHORT DRIVE AWAY FROM MANY ACTIVITIES AND ATTRACTIONS.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Sightseeing, Families with Young Children
