Imagine Cape Breton in the Fall! From this historic Acadian house on Cheticamp Island you will look over the long harbour and the highlands from every window. Quiet privacy w. easy access to Cape Breton HIghlands National Park (10 minutes) and town of Cheticamp (7minutes) with restaurants, shops, music, and whale cruises. Island is connected to mainland and Cabot Trail by a causeway running along a warm water sandy swimming beach. From house, trails lead to beach, high Capes on the Gulf of St Lawrence, and lighthouse at the tip of island. Enjoy a family vacation hiking in the Park, strolling paths on the island, swimming at the beach, paddling the harbour, playing horseshoes, picking blueberries, biking to the lighthouse, or taking turns lying in the hammock, admiring the fabulous views. Recently renovated house features wood stove, laundry, WiFi, cable, full fleet of bikes, small boats, organic vegetable garden. Reduced rates for fall months, and long term winter rental available.

The fishing village of Cheticamp is located on the Cabot Trail at the western entrance to the spectacular Highlands National Park, and is the heart of Acadian culture on Cape Breton. Cheticamp Island, connected to the mainland by a causeway, offers both privacy and easy access to the many fine restaurants, shops, local music and whale watching tours of the town. Choose to hike the many trails in the Park or to explore the paths on the island. Walk to to the cliffs on the Gulf of St Lawrence, to the lighthouse, or to the long warm water sand beach. Watch whales feeding off of the point, row across the harbour to town for lunch, and come home to enjoy the view.

Notes: Three bedrooms upstairs with full bath, living room and eat-in kitchen downstairs- this house was originally located at Cap Rouge in the present Cape Bretons Highland National Park, and removed (floated!) to Cheticamp Island when the Park was established in 1940. A simple Acadian style house, fully renovated, surrounded by acres and acres of hayfields and forest. The 'Queen' of Cheticamp Island!

Wonderful location with beautiful views of the harbor, ever possible thing you would need on vacation, from beach chairs to kayak, to bikes, are included. A quiet location, close to town and the park. Wifi included which helps! would stay here again in a heartbeat! The owner was wonderful and went out of her way to make sure we had everything.

Had a great time on our trip. Weather was PERFECT!!! The home was awesome and in such a great location. Fully equipped just like the ad says it is. We loved the beach on one end and the lighthouse on the other end of the island. Saw whales and seals from the island shore. Saw lots of wildlife (12 moose) in the National Park which is very close also. The owner G was great and very friendly. Would love to come back and do it all over again. Thanks!!
