Location:
The Boyne City area is the primary vacation destination for the midwest. It is a four season locale with abundant lakes for summer breaks, fall colors and hunting in autumn, winter skiing/snowboarding and snowmobiling, and spring 'mushroom capitol of the world'. It is a 4 hour drive from Detroit and 6 hours from Chicago. Canada is just 2 hours away. If you enjoy the beauty of hills/trees/lakes and like to 'get away from it all', but don't have the time to reach remote areas, this is an ideal spot to visit. Traverse City is the closest 'metropolis' an hour away, but an hour the other direction puts you on Mackinac Island 'somewhere in time' where vehicles are not allowed. Lake Charlevoix is a deep water fishing and boating mecca that connects to Lake Michigan, and is the premier inland lake in Michigan. After one vacation you likely will look for a second or retirement home here. Charlevoix County has for its history the only 'kingdom' ever set up on US soil: on Beaver Island.
Amenities:
This is a second generation family owned cottage that was completely renovated to add the creature comforts of a 'condo', but you can enjoy a place 'all to yourself' with this home. It is located on 130' of sandy beach with 100' deck to enjoy an unbelievable view of a large inland lake. A dock and rowboat are included, and nearby boat launches allow you to bring your own watercraft if that is your choice. We adjoin a 115 acre park with camping and lots more beach for you to comb or trails to hike. The cottage sleeps 6/7, depending on how you fill one double bed. We have cable TV but doubt you'll have the time or inkling to watch, with the beauty of your surroundings, and the abundance of things to do & see. We are close to everything in the north, but far enough away to make this truly feel like a 'getaway' place.
Ski:
The Boyne USA resorts at Boyne Mountain and Boyne Highlands cannot be beat in the Midwest, especially with the addition of the waterpark at Boyne Mountain. Nubs Nob and other local ski facilities are also top notch. Abundant daily fee and free/state owned cross-country trails are available. If you love to ski, Boyne is the best. Period.
Golf:
There are 50 courses within a 45 minute drive, including TreeTops, the Boyne USA courses, other high-end resort/championship links and also a variety of good-value or walk-on courses. I golf for fun and don't have time to play them all...and I live here! I have played them all and can give some tips/coaching on where to play. This is a golf mecca.
