Sheltered below a stand of spruce, lookout upon the pond and mountains--no buildings are visible, cathedral ceiling, wood stove. Covered deck with charcoal grill & deck furniture, trails run through tiered property of meadows and woods, fruit & nut trees & hundreds of plantings supporting abundant wildlife. Bench under cherry tree next to pond, 2 streams, adjoins thousands of acres of 20 mile long reservoir, on which I have a boat available to you for fishing. Bike along the quiet roads, lookout upon the mountains of the forever wild Catskill Park, only minutes from the delightful Village of Andes with shops, restaurants and galleries

    Weekly rentals run Friday late afternoon to following Friday morning or Saturday afternoon to following Saturday morning:

    (maximum for both homes—12 people.) No young children but infants are okay.
  • A security deposit of 30% ($250 minimum) is required to reserve the rental (40% if a pet or children are accompanying you.) The full amount of the rental is required at least two weeks prior to the start of the rental period. Termination will
    have a full refund if they are received at least 30 days prior to the start of the rental.
    Termination received within 15-30 days of the start of the rental start will forfeit half
    the deposit. Termination received within 15 days of the start of the rental start will
    forfeit the entire deposit. An $80 cash cleaning fee must be left at the house at the
    end of the rental. For rentals of less than 7 days Delaware County sales tax of 8
    percent must be added.

Take great hikes starting at the front door or throughout the Catskill Park which offers trails of varying degrees of difficulty. The quiet winding road that runs below my properties is a favorite for bicyclists--it is 14 miles from my house to the end of the road in Downsville and you will only pass 7 homes along the way. Have a large group? Rent both of my homes (12 maximum)--see my other listing on this site 138165

My other house (a cabin) is the nearest dwelling--a hundred yards away up the hill and hidden behind the embankment of spruce trees. If the cabin is rented the rentees may ask you if they can use the pond or walk the property and down to the streams. That is entirely up you and do not feel pressured in anyway to grant that request if you feel uncomfortable. Use of my rowboat IS shared by both rentals. I keep the oars, life jackets and anchor in the shed behind the house but they may be at the cabin.

5 ski resorts in the area as well a snow tubing. Bring snowshoes & crampons for the Catskill trails. Several rivers offer good kayaking and canoeing, while the Beaverkill is a world class fly fishing stream. Or just curl up by the fire with a book and beverage of choice. In summer sit on the deck and watch fireflies dance under a star studded sky, I hope you find this a comfortable mountain retreat to recharge & reconnect.

I love this area of the Catskills. The property is beautiful and the house is adequate for a small family. Everything is provided, except a few extra towels would be nice! The owner was very accommodating and it was a pleasure to meet him. If you do not like the outdoors then go to a resort. This is a great, quiet getaway and I will be returning again. Not many restaurants in the area but for a week it is enough. Reservoir just a short distance away so fishing is great. Lots of woods to investigate although the warning of bears all around did put me off a bit.

R&R in the Catskills

We had a fabulous week in this gorgeous house in a gorgeous setting. The entire area is a wonderful get-away with many activities available, or a perfect setting to just sit and unwind. We were two adults, a dog, and an 8-year-old. The 8-year-old was thrilled exploring the creek, playing in the yard, and wandering through the meadows; the dog was happy sniffing out rabbits and playing with the neighbor’s dog from down the road; the adults were happy hiking through the woods and sitting on the front porch enjoying the spectacular view. We found great swimming (for both dogs and humans) in a beautiful setting up the road and had a lovely meal in town one evening. The owner was wonderfully accommodating and full of information. The house is loaded with a fascinating collection of artifacts from nature. Children who are able to enjoy an item without touching it would do wonderfully here. High-energy dogs could pose a problem. We’ve recommended it to many friends and hope to get back there again.

Tranquility and Contentment

This is the most beautiful house and property that I have ever visited. So cozy and separated from all the stresses that plague our lives on a daily basis. My husband and I had been run ragged since the snow melted this year to get our home ready for our wedding in August. We desperately needed a place to wind down and reconnect to the earth and ourselves. As soon as we pulled into the driveway, the house was so quaint and beautiful that it brought tears to my eyes. I could just feel the tension seep out of my muscles and mind. We spent the next 7 days exploring the property, which is also a small wildlife sanctuary. The pond, creeks, mountains, freshly mowed paths, birds, deer, rabbits, and even the amazing dogs from up the road made this home away from home the perfect destination for us to start our new life. The home itself is a quiet beauty. The space inside is very appealing and comfortable. Our time there couldn't have been more enjoyable, I recommend this peaceful place to anyone who enjoys nature and to all that connects us to this beautiful planet. Michael is a very sweet and intriguing person, you can see and feel that he put his very soul into creating this place. He is accommodating and available should you have any problems or questions. I couldn't be more grateful to him for sharing his little piece of heaven with us. Thank you so very much, I will never forget the magic of this place.

Be Warned!!

We stayed in August of 2007. We had to leave early due to a severe indoor flying ant infestation. Owner kept our deposit for reasons of hearsey. Long list of childish instructions about every little detail does not make it a vacation. Not worth the stay for adults. Highly recommend if you have little children.
