The house is on Indian Point Road, a quiet road approximately 7 miles from Bar Harbor Airport and supermarket - 2 1/2 miles from Somesville which has a gas Station. convenience store, Post Office, Library and Theater and 2 1/2 miles from Town Hill, where there is a brewery and restaurant, also a small country grocery store and Deli. One mile away is the Indian Point Sanctuary, a spectacular spot to roam and bird watch and 4 miles away is Beech Mountain and Beech Mountain organic farm stand. Another 8 miles or so takes you to Southwest Harbor. The fenced in back yard of the house is inviting for barbecues, sun bathing, kids games or pets. accommodations are simple and attractive. In addition to the living room is a sun room for days when the weather is cool. Outdoor activities include bicycling, hiking, Kayaking, canoeing, swimming, sightseeing ( there is access to the water for boats at the end of the private Green Island drive or at the Town Hill landing 1 1/2 miles away.)

Green Island Gate House on the western side of Mt. Desert is near gentle Blue Hill Bay, the body of water known to be warmer and less fog bound than other parts of Mt. Desert. It is ideal for canoeing and kayaking and there are several small uninhabited islands to land on for picnicking and swimming. On the Eastern side of Mt Desert is the busy town of Bar Harbor which is jumping with activity day and night. Cruise ships come in weekly and shops, theaters and restaurants stay open late into the evening. On the Southern side are the harbors of Northeast and Southwest, a haven for yachts and also at Southwest, tennis courts and a golf course open to non-members. The Island is best known for Acadia National park, some 35,000 acres of spectacular views, seacoast, forest, lakes and mountains. Five miles of carriage roads winding through the park proved access of bicycles, horses and carriages. Also 120 miles of hiking trails. For kids in Ellsworth, water tubing, miniature golf etc.
