Acadia National park: 35,000 Acres of seacoast, rocks, Islands, forest, lakes and mountains make up Acadia National Park. A 10-12 Foot tide provides a landscape that is ever changing. Four lighthouses can be visited, 5 miles of carriage roads through the park provide access for bicycles, horses and carriages which can be hired. There are 120 miles of hiking trails that range from easy to difficult and are well marked and easily accessed. The park is everywhere on Mt Desert. Not far from Green Island and Somesville is Beech Mountain which can be climbed in a couple of hours, and on the way stop at the Beech Hill organic farm for delicious vegetables. There are other trails on the road to Southwest Harbor. There is a large sand beach near Bar Harbor and an incomparable view from the top of Cadillac Mountain. All the smaller mountains have spectacular views. It is a breathtaking landscape.
