Best Place in Luquillo

This condo is everything the description lists. It was very clean and well taken care of. The owner of this property has great customer service and went out of her way to make sure we were happy. I would recommend this property to anybody going to Luquillo. On the listing it says a car is necessary, and that is a must. The condo is gated and there is a designated parking spot to park in. Luquillo is a small town and its best attraction is the beach. Luckily, this condo has the beach right outside its balcony. It is absolutely beautiful. The beach straight out back has waves and if you walk 5 minutes (seriously) down the beach to the left there is a cove without any waves (you can see that area from the balcony as well). We are from California and I guess we are used to waves so we enjoyed both beaches. The water is a beautiful light blue and warm - a treat from what we are used to. Luquillo can be shocking from what North American cities are like. Instead of feeling scared in Luquillo (we never saw any homeless or scary looking people) we actually felt sorry for the little town because about half of the houses have been abandoned since Hurricane Hugo in 1989, but the houses that have rebuilt are quaint and well taken care of. The people we met in Luquillo were very friendly. Walking distance from the condo, on the corner of the street where the condo is, there is a restaurant named Guavas, and one street opposite the condo is a plaza with a church, a delicious bakery, the Mayor’s office and a convenience store. Next to the plaza is the police department and the post office. Five minutes drive away there are a lot of restaurants, a Walgreens and a super market. If you are used to traveling to other countries, or want to experience a different culture other than North American, then Puerto Rico and Luquillo are great places to come visit and I would say the best place to stay in Luquillo is this condo. We loved it and I even have the view from this condo's balcony as my computer's desktop wallpaper.

A great place and accurately described

Four of us, two couples , stayed from Nov6-13 and had a most relaxing time. The condo has everything claimed, full kitchen with all the accessories needed.Great beds. We arrived after midnight and found milk, juice, bread etc in order to have breakfast without going out shopping that morning. Gladys is just very thoughtful. She met the first couple arriving at the airport to give us the keys and to greet and welcome them to Puerto Rico.We also found the local people friendly and helpful. Just about all are in PR. No difficulty finding a supermarket, WalMart or even a Costco. The views from the balcony and sound of the surf are great. The beach for walking is one of the best we have had-we walked for over two miles one way and there was still a long distance of beach further.The location is excellent to go to El Yungee rain forest, Fajardo for the luminescent kayak tour.or transport to other islands. It was about 1/2 hour to old town, (By the way you can park for $2 an hour at the San Cristobol fortress with the first hour being free, much cheaper than other parking) We also went to the Bacardi rum plant-the tour is ok, the two drinks great and it is very pretty. We drove to Ponce taking the long way rather than from San Juan but it took a while so we did not go into Ponce but enjoyed the ride and the small towns on the way and returned the fast way via the ourskirts of San Juan. We never ate dinner out choosing to eat in and enjoy the view and the surf sound.If you read travel books about the rain forest, they will tell you to wear long pants and use a lot of insect spray if you are doing any hiking. We wore shorts and no spray on the advice of the rangers and had no difficulty. Hope to get some rain while at the condo to enjoy the rainbows. If you want a personal recommendation you have it from us . This is our third trip to PR have stayed in a high class hotel and a condo on Isle Verde but this was our best yet. I would provide contact info but it is prohibited but Gladys has it.

Beautiful Condo

The condo was absolute beautiful and everyone in my family enjoyed watching the ocean from the balcony. The view was spectacular. The home-like condo was ideal for our family of five. We were able to enjoy a relaxing breakfast before heading out on sightseeing adventures. Cooking dinners in the evening saved us from eating out every night. The grocery store was close by. We appreciated a relaxing swim in the condo bulding's swimming pool after a long day when going to the beach was too much effort. And the WiFi Internet access was a welcomed surprise!

My husband, a native Puerto Rican, planned most of the activities. We went to San Juan, Arecibo, and Guanica (on the South-side of the island). Closer to the condo, we enjoyed hiking to El Yunque, kayaking at night to the bioluminescent bay, horseback riding, and sailing from Puerto Del Rey to a great snorkling spot. With the beach so close, we had to modify husband's agenda to fit in more beach time and we spent a day at Balneiro de Luquillo, (cost $4 for the car load) a public beach with amenities. (Thank you, "G" for the beach chairs!)

The only negative is that the surrounding area is run-down which does not make a very good first impression. We did not walk the area at night but I felt comfortable walking around during the day. Everyone I met was friendly and spoke enough English for us to exchange pleasantries. (Although my husband speaks Spanish, I do not.) The corner bakery served delicious pastries. We would definitely stay here again.

Amazing Apartment!!

My visit to Puerto Rico was splendid. The apartment's location leads you in the right direction to many places such as the Yunque Rain Forest, Luquillo beach, a mall is close by. The apartment it self is very clean and well maintained. It was spacious enough for myself and five others. The view of the beach is amazing from the balcony or from the beach front. There is a surf shop for those seeking something a little more fun than the usual tan and swim. the instructor is very kind and patient. The owner of the condo is very nice and willing to make your experience more memorable with directions and suggestions of things that are a must see. Overall if you are looking for a place that is well kept, very quiet yet not far from a good time, and somewhere with a breathtaking view to be seen every morning this is the place.
