I'm a travel writer who has lived short term in over a dozen countries. Finding one of a kind places to stay in each city has become my specialty! I handpicked this flat because it is everything I look for in a city home. Slightly off the tourist track so that I feel like I 'live' in the place for however short a time. And a view that leaves no doubt where I am. In the charming Parisian-like Istanbul neighborhood called Cihangir popular with Turkish film industry types as well as intellectuals and artists. Lots of sidewalk cafes and turn of the century architecture.This large flat is fully furnished and includes television, A.C, washing machine, ceiling fans, dishwasher, wireless Internet and much more. It is a bright sunny flat facing the Bosphorus with its beautiful bridges, mosques, castles, and more. A quiet retreat from Istanbul's chaotic center, while just moments away. Oft compared to Montmarte, Paris. 10 min. walk to Taksim, 10 min. tram ride to Sultanahmet.Quiet, close to all the sites while far away from carpet salesmen and pushy vendors. Sidewalk cafes and boutiques abound. Close to tram and metro. Taxi stand one block away. Or walk anywhere from this location.

  • Master bedroom is quite large and can be shut off from rest of apartment. Includes separate sleeping area with large twin bed...can be shut off. Has desk chairs, and bookcases. Guest Room number 2 is lovely. Quiet, next to bathroom, walls are lined with white built in cabinets and closets. Guest Room number 2 is on the other side of the bathroom. It is small and cozy with queen bed. There is a twin bed/day bed in the living room and a wide single in the master bedroom (bedroom #3) in addition to the queen bed. There are 2 couches in the living room that can accommodate 2 youngsters.

Location!Views!Great neighborhood!: As a travel writer who has lived in flats in over 14 countries in 9 years, I have a good idea of what global travelers like in a home away from home. I chose this flat for two main reasons: the neighborhood & the view. Homes with Bosphorus views in Istanbul are very expensive and much coveted. From this large 3+ bedroom flat you will enjoy one of the most outstanding views in all of Istanbul. Sit on your balcony in Europe and watch ships cross from Asia. Cihangir is considered one of the best places in Istanbul to live. Oft compared to Montmarte Paris. It is bohemian with many excellent outdoor cafes, turn-of-the-century architecture & cobblestone streets. The choice of residence for the city's artists, intellects, & foreigners. It is a short walk or tram ride to all the major sites. You'll have no hassles from rug salesmen or vendors here. Yet you are just moments from tourist central. It's the perfect combination of location, comfort, and views.

Be 'part' of Istanbul, and enjoy the view!: If you want to feel like you are part of Istanbul as opposed to a tourist - observer only, this is the place to stay. It is entirely safe day and night, and centrally located so that you are not more than a few minutes from Taksim and/or Sultanahmet. You will 'live' briefly in a charming neighborhood occupied by the city's artists, intellects, and foreigners. You'll see many a Turkish film star dining outside one of its cafes. The view will blow you away. And the apartment is large enough for comfort but small enough to be cozy. 3+ bedrooms, large kitchen, dining...well, look at the pictures and you'll see. It is fabulous for entertaining in too. Filled with light and breathtaking views. Large balcony.

Your own personal guide, like visiting a friend: I have several Turkish friends who will take you by the hand if you wish and show you the city...the best places to eat, where to get your hair done etc....they'll even arrange for private tours of the city's monuments and outside the city if you like. Their English is impeccable and being a native of Istanbullan they know the city inside and out. They can show you the best places to eat, arrange private tours...and they can be your 'family' while you are in Istanbul.

We stayed with six persons for a wonderful week in the apartment between April 5 and 12, 2009. We found all as described on the homepage. The flat was very clean and the hints in the house-book were very precise and useful. We loved to explore the surrounding streets (Cihangir) and to use the tram to reach all attractions in between 10 minutes. The view to the Bosphorus will follow us for a long time in our dreams. We could have spent the whole day, only sitting at the window and counting the passing ships as Orhan Pamuk recommends.

Amazing Apartment

My husband and I absolutely loved this apartment! The view was so beautiful. We loved watching the boats traveling in the day and the lights at night. The apartment was very comfortable and safe and had all the conveniences of home. I would highly recommend it.
