Casa Toucan is a 2000 square foot private villa nestled in a secluded jungle setting. There are ocean views across the entire west side of the house: kitchen, dining area, living room and veranda. One of the bedrooms is set behind the veranda and can open up on it, allowing for an ocean view from bed. The two large master bedroom suites have queen sized beds (one has an additional twin), private bathrooms, dehumidified closets, and are separated by a spacious living room. Modern American kitchen and vaulted ceilings with palm frond fans give this home both comfort and beauty. With ocean breezes all day and cool mountain air at night, there is no need for air conditioning (although one bedroom has an in-wall unit). Wake up to the calls of howler monkeys and enjoy the sunset by your private 40 foot tiled 'chlorine-free' pool which is surrounded by 'cool to the foot' crushed coral decking.

Conveniently located 800 feet above the village of Uvita, Casa Toucan is in an area of Costa Rica famous for its pleasant climate. With the mountains coming right down to the Pacific, you have ocean breezes all day and cool mountain air at night. Just south of Dominical, Uvita's 'whale-tail' separates the endless coastline of beaches into high surf on one side or calm water on the other, creating ideal conditions for either swimming, surfing or snorkeling. Uvita is also the main entrance to Ballena National Underwater Park. Tour operators here will bring you snorkeling right off the coast at Ballena Isla or to the famous Cano Island for scuba or snorkeling. They also offer tours to Corcovado Nat'l Park just across the bay for a day of hiking in one of the few primal forests left in the world. Choose a day of deep sea fishing or go kayaking in our mangrove rivers or hike local wildlife preserve. We also have several waterfalls which you can walk to or rent a horse and ride there.

Casa Toucan is a Luxury Treehouse!

I organized a group of five friends (including myself) to spend the week at Casa Toucan during the second week of March. We had the most amazing week! We spent each day exploring the Uvita area--Scuba lessons & diving at Cano Island (amazing! including more white tip reef sharks than I saw in the Red Sea), swimming in the natural pools below waterfalls, fishing & eating Tilapia, body surfing and regular surfing in the Ballena National park, and nature hikes in that great reserve just south of Dominical. The BEST part though was returning each day to Casa Toucan just before sunset to have a sundowner cocktail, lounge in the pool and make dinner in the great (fully equiped) kitchen and grill out on the patio. The reason I call this place 'the luxury treehouse' is: 1) luxury=this house has everything you could want in a nice house back home: washer & dryer, dishwashing machine, garbage disposal, TV with DVD player, sound system for CDs, hot water showers. ...2) treehouse=have you seen the photos? it's in the middle of primary rainforest jungle! the house is open air (fully screened in) so you can hear the cicadas, howler monkeys, birds all day & night. All in all the perfect place for the nature lover who wants mountains & rainforest, ocean & beach, but does not want to give a single modern luxury! I am sure you will love the place as much as we did. P.S. The Road is an adventure! Get a good strong 4x4 and you will love it.

Fabulous!

The house was immaculate and nicely laid out. Because the house is built into the surrounding jungle, each morning we awoke to the howler monkees making their way through the jungle and all the birds waking up. We saw more Toucans than we could count! We were a wide range of ages, 5-77, and we all had a fabulous time at the house. The pool is lovely and we had amazing sunsets. The owners are terrific and made sure we had contacts close by in case we needed anything with the house. You will not be disappointed if you chose this house for your vacation!

We Glenn & Veronica S., Found this GEM of a vacation home thru A freind who stayed here a year or so before.. We had never experienced a vacation like this. We contacted the owners and the helped us and talked us thru the whole travel prosses, introduceing us to a car rental, tourist center, and local markets... The home was"IS" so Beautiful, we felt as though we were only to people on the mountain ... The nights were breath takeing, and comfortable .. We stayed from Feb-08 To March-08,, The days were spent loungeing bye the pool, Hiking, and enjoying the Costa Rican Country side.We have recomened the Casa Tucan to our freinds and anyone who says they wish to go to Costa Rica..... We Can Not Wait To Return...To all who look at this property the owners and the home are 100% relieable in our experience .. The description of the Casa Tucan bye the owner is 100% correct, The home was clean a person comes bye to clean pool and property,Any Questions you might have the owners can answer ! ......................
