My family and I just got back and wish we could've stayed forever! The house was perfect. You would never guess it was rental. The bedrooms were large and the beds were comfortable. Having a full size washer and dryer is a nice touch. The living area is set in the "treetops". My kids said it was like being in a treehouse. The dishwasher and full size fridg came in handy. My husband said the view from the kitchen window made even him want to do the dishes. Being right on the Betsie River was perfect for my fishermen. I think the grand total was around 30 brown/rainbow trout, assorted "chubs" and sunfish, and even a few yellow perch. We had two deer visit almost every moring and my son met the resident snapping turtle. One of our favorite features of the property were the very large wind chimes in the tree out back. They made the most wonderful sound of church bells. We spent alot of time just "chilling" at the property but we did go into town often. Benziona and Beulah are only about 15 miles away and have a nice grocery store that didn't charge "tourist" prices. We ate at two very good restraunts on town. The Cherry Hut and the Roadhouse. The Cherry Hut is a local legend and started out as a fruit stand selling "can you guess?"Great homecooked food and the BEST cherry pie hands down!! We enjoyed dinner one night and a Saturday morning breakfast buffet with cherry muffins of course. The Roadhouse is a new addition since we were last in the area but a good one. They serve upscale mexican and have an outdoor patio that is "the" place to be. The food was very good and others said the "margs" were great. We also enjoyed takeout pizza from the Hungry Tummy and who can come to the area and not go to an orginial A&W Rootbeer stand with carhops and awesome rootbeer floats. It is located in Frankfort, MI about 20 or 30 miles from the property. All in all we would defenitly recommend this property to anyone wishing to destress and relax. We would love to come back to experience the "colors" in the fall and enjoy the winter activities. We hope this review will help you make the decision to stay at Serenity Bend. You will not regret it.
