This cottage has a great spot on Westport Island (which is located between historic Bath and Wiscasset-the prettiest village in Maine)! We are secluded, wooded with Maine coastline views. While there are an abundance of things to do within a short drive many guests choose to spend most of their time at the cottage enjoying the serenity. Buy lobsters off the dock 1/2 mile away at North End Lobster Co-op. Enjoy area restaurants including Red’s Eats (Voted Best Lobster Rolls time and time again-Google it), Sarah’s waterfront café, Cook's (voted best seafood & in VISA commercial)-many more. We are close proximity to beaches (Reid State Park has Popham State Park), museums, and Mid coast sightseeing. A short drive to Boothbay Harbor, Camden and LLBean, Freeport Outlets! Midcoast Maine offers many festivals, gatherings, harbor seal watches, water adventures, craft fairs, sailing charters, fishing charters, more. Access is a short BRIDGE to the island.

A Great, Peaceful Spot

This was our third year at Waters Edge. We love this place and will continue to come back in the future. It is always neat, clean, and very well kept. The owners pay a lot of attention to detail and work hard to make sure that the house has everything that you need for a great time, regardless of the weather. Every year, they have something new that makes things even better. On our first weekend, we have a great cookout where family comes up and enjoys the property with us. The week following is 'quiet time', with lots of reading, puzzle making, and snoozing. The dock is great for kayaking and I even took a swim, this year. The lobster co-op down the road is great. This year we picked up a dozen lobsters and made a huge lobster stew. The area is great and everything is convenient (close, but far enough away). I don't think that rental property gets any better than this.

LOVELY COTTAGE

We just returned from a week at your lovely cottage. Everything you need is provided and having a bathroom for each bedroom was a nice extra feature. We ate our evening meal on the deck everynight, and when the rain threatened we found a great selection of restaurants nearby. My husband tried fishing from the dock and caught a lobster and many crabs. Having a washer and dryer to take care of the fishing clothes was great. The blueberry bushes by the back door are loaded with berries. We toured the lighthouse, went sailing in Kennybunkport, shopped and went on a fishing charter. Too many things to do in a short time. We had a wonderful time, you will too.

We keep coming back

This is an absolutely lovely home to have your MidCoast Maine vacation in. This was our third year at Water's Edge and we have always found the house in wonderful condition with upgrades every year. Whether you want to hang out at the house or go some place different everyday, this is the place. Pemequid Beach is well suited for younger children. Reid St. Park beach is great for hanging out all day. Go into Wiscasset, just a little ways away, look around the wonderful stores, stop at "Treats" on the corner, get some incredible wine and even more incredible cheese, go back to the house and enjoy. The owners of the home are wonderfully accommodating and have created a beautiful home away from home.

Beautiful Cottage, Relaxing Vacation

Your cottage is absolutely beautiful...we didn't want to leave! Sunday and Monday were sunny and warm, so we did Pemaquid Lighthouse and Reid State Park those days. But, even the cool rainy days we enjoyed. Went to Boothbay Harbor and Freeport, but wanted to get back to Water's Edge the whole time we were out. The three of us enjoyed playing games in the dining room near the cozy gas fireplace. It was a very peaceful and restorative week for all of us.

Thank you again for the lovely accommodations. We definitely plan to return some time, maybe with our grandchildren when they're a bit older.

Waters Edge Retreat on Westport Island, Maine

We loved EVERYTHING about this wonderful vacation home. The pictures and the description about the home were accurate. It was very clean and well maintained. We especially liked the privacy of the bedrooms, and that they each had their own private bathroom. We spent lots of time in the Adirondack chairs, overlooking the beautiful Sheepscot River. There were two active osprey nests nearby, on docks on the river. We watched other birds, as well as lobster boats. The fisherman at the North End Co-op were very friendly. (This is an easy walk.) We visited lovely towns: Wiscosset, Boothbay Harbor, Damariscotta, South Bristol and Christmas Cove, Bath and the Iron Works, Bailey's Island. We hope to return to this lovely home again.
