Well-Equipped Comfortable Lake Cottage

The cottage is located in a charming, quiet lake community close to the cultural attractions of the Berkshires. It is also close to lots of hiking trails ranging from family-friendly outdoor walks to the Appalachian Trail. The screened porch was great for dining and relaxing. The Master Bedroom and bath are especially modern and comfortable. The lake is just across the street. The location is a short ride to the good restaurants in Great Barrington. The house was fully stocked with anything I needed for cooking, including lots of spices and for laundry. It was special for me to have a choice between air-conditioning and ceiling fans for the occasional warm night.

Ed is a gracious, responsive and relaxed owner. He made it easy for me to hook my IPhone up to his wireless internet.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, People with Disabilities, Romantic Getaway

Nice, Clean, Peaceful

We stayed for one week in August and had a great time. The house was
very clean and comfortable and had everything you needed - but did not
necessarily expect - like a good washer/dryer, a nice full size gas
grill, and good quality dishes/pans/kitchen stuff. The views are
beautiful and the lake is easy and close.

Ed was great to deal with and made everything easy. We would love to rent again.

A Very Nice Cottage

The cottage was clean and spacious with a lovely screened in porch. You could easily see Lake Buel across the road from the porch. The livingroom had two recliners which were very comfortable. There was plenty of closet space and the kingsize bed was great. Swimming was just across the road.

The owners were lovely, responsive and helpful. Our only suggestion to them would be to put another lamp in the livingroom to improve the lighting.

The location of the cottage near Great Barrington meant that we were near all the wonderful cultural attractions in the area.

Comfy and no bugs

I had two concerns when renting:
1. What to do with my child if the weather was bad, and,
2. Is the place going to be full of mosquitoes and other bugs?

Well, the weather was bad. It rained almost the entire stay, but we had a great time because the screened in porch was a great way to feel like we were outside with plenty of space for my young son to move around and play with us.

As for bugs, well, we spent a lot of time on that porch and didn't get a single bite between us (five people.) Frankly I was amazed (but obviously very happy) that there weren't bugs. The place was clean and comfortable.

I'd recommend this to my friends.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Tourists without a Car, Families with Young Children

Spacious Cottage

My family (3 young children and their parents) stayed here during the 4th of July week and had a marvelous time. The owner is extremely accomodating which made everything flow smoothly. The cottage was just as described in the listing and nice renovations have been made which maintain its original charm. The bathrooms are very large and new and the delightful screened porch got a lot of use. The view of the lake from the house is somewhat obstructed by another house. Lake Buel is quiet and crystal clear. This cottage is convenient to everything we wanted, Tanglewood, Great Barrington, etc. Nice quiet spot on Lake Buel. Again, the owner was exceptionally accomodating which made our arrangement and stay a pleasure.
Recommended for:  Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children
