Available year-round, this sun-filled shingled cottage is in a lovely residential waterside village about 15 minutes from Providence. Nearby access to major roads (Routes 95/195/24) leading to Providence/Bristol/ Newport/Boston/Cape Cod/New Bedford. Terrific spot for weekend getaway, short-term relocation, or for locals, a place to house out-of-town guests. Great walking, biking or roller blading in immediate neighborhood - also close to East Bay Bike Path. (15 mile paved bike/walk/blade trail - runs from Bristol to Providence) Located in quiet neighborhood, on landscaped property, with on-site off-street parking, and nearby access to water. Private entrance - all living space on one level. Two separate bedrooms, living area, dinette, kitchen. Comfortable furnishings, heated for year-round use, linens/dishes/cookware provided. No pets allowed, but we can recommend local kennels. Sorry, no smoking or candles permitted on property.

This lovely suburban area is home to East Bay Bike Path, Audubon Society of RI, Hereschoff Sailing Museum, Haffenreffer Museum of Anthropology. Town itself has wonderful walking, shopping, library, town beach. Area is surrounded by water for kayaking/canoeing. Minutes to Providence for terrific arts and dining. Other nearby attractions include Brown University, Providence College, RISD/Museum, Providence Children's Museum, Roger Williams Zoo. Easy drives to Newport, Boston, Cape Cod. Nearby ferries and planes to Block Island, Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard. One hour drive to Mystic/New London.

Notes: This sunny cottage is a great alternative to a hotel/motel for short-term stays - available year round (heated). Convenient to Routes 95, 195, and 24 - 15 mins to Providence, 30 mins to Newport, 1 hour to Boston. 3.5 hrs to NYC. Lots of windows overlook mature landscaped property, with off-street parking on site. Interior layout all on one floor, including living area, dinette, galley kitchen, two separate bedrooms and three-quarter bath. Sheets/towels and cable TV with DVD/VCR player provided. Convenient shopping for all necessities nearby. Cell phones/wireless laptops work in most situations. We cannot accommodate any pets, but can recommend excellent local kennels. While cottage has 2 hard-wired smoke/CO2 alarms, no smoking or candles for safety reasons.

Exploring Rhode Island any time of year: RI may be the smallest state, but it's open all year and packed with things to do/see. Veteran visitors or first-timers always find something new to explore! Nearby Bristol and Warren are charming towns, great for exploring along the waterfront - also home to Blithewold, Roger Williams University, Herschoff Yachting Museum, many terrific restaurants, Providence (RI's capital) has highly acclaimed restaurants, Water Fire (in season), museums/arts events, Providence Childrens' Museum,, Roger Williams Zoo, RISD, Brown University, Providence College, galleries, shopping, outdoor ice skating in winter. Newport in summer filled with visitors from all over the world - fabulous waterfront, historical spots, and endless activities. Winter-time Newport far less busy and still charming. Famed mansions, unbelievably beautiful (recently renovated) Cliff Walk, Touro Synagogue, St Mary's Church, Intl Tennis Hall of Fame, outdoor ice skating, shopping along Thames St.

Part II - Exploring RI: Other coastal areas include historic WIckford Village, Little Compton, Tiverton, Watch Hill. During summer, be sure to visit enchanting Block Island - a ferry ride away from the fishing port of Galilee (near Narragansett/Bonnet Shores), or a plane ride from Westerly/Watch Hill area. Northwestern RI (Woonsocket, Smithfield, Lincoln) has more rolling views and historic communities (Bryant University, Museum of Work and Culture). Farther east from Providence (out 195 towards Cape Cod) are the towns of Barrington, Warren, Bristol, Warren, Little Compton, TIverton - all waterfront communities with their own charms and activities. Minutes to New Bedford (Whaling Museum). From one end of the state to the other, max 1.45 mins drive time. Great highway system, but lots of back roads too.
