Casa Miramar is a very private comfortable Costa Rican getaway located a cool 800 feet above the ocean and the quaint town of Uvita. This modern and spacious 2 bedroom home sleeps five comfortably and also offers on premises a secluded smaller house/casita which has one bedroom, 1 bath, kitchen and large veranda with an incredible view. Other than the weekly visit of the gardener and housekeeper (included in rates) you can lull away the days in your veranda hammock enjoying the stunning ocean and mountain/valley views, or take a dip in the inviting pool in sublime peace and privacy. The new addition of the 'Bali shade hut' will add to your pleasure by the pool.

The town of Uvita is located on the Pacific Coast south of Quepos and north of Golfito. Playa Uvita is the home of Costa Rica's only marine sanctuary, Ballena Marine National Park. The park is named for the whales that are sometimes sighted close to shore in the winter months. From Casa Miramar you can see the spit of land that's formed at low tide and composes the perfect outline of a whale's tail. Convenient to Uvita you can easily get to canopy tours, miles of beautiful beaches, river rafting, waterfalls, rain forest, horseback riding along the ocean and so much more - or, just enjoy the awesome ocean/river/mountain view from right where you are - Casa Miramar. Especially notable is the great surfing just minutes away. Also available are nearby language schools for those wanting a bit more from their cultural experience.

Location: Located along the newly paved Costaneros Highway, Uvita is south of the colorful surfer town of Dominical and north of Ojochal. Casa Miramar is a perfect headquarters for jumping to the Osa Peninsula by sea or by road, and to explore points north or inland. You'll find that friendly Uvita is a thriving village where you can stay close to home and be thoroughly entertained. Choose from a variety of sports and sightseeing tours including a 'not to miss' horseback tour through the jungle to a waterfall followed by a gallop along the ocean.

The Village of Uvita: There is a wide selection of restaurants in the area, one of the best just within walking distance from the house!! There is a good variety at the grocery store, tour guides, unspoiled beaches, all mixed with locals riding on horseback down the main street. That sense of 'back in time' blends with the modernity of local conveniences, including our local internet bakery with yummy desserts where you're bound to run into some very interesting people.

Wildlife from your front porch...: A birdwatchers paradise, be amazed as large birds catch the draft spirals and soar overhead. Resident hawks and falcons perch in nearby trees. You may have the treat to see a Morpho butterfly skip along the garden flowers. Mornings are filled with the sound of song birds as you sit to enjoy your first cup of coffee. Though Casa Miramar is not on a 'monkey highway', you will hear the howlers in the distance and occasionally see the white faced monkeys in the area. It's not unusual to encounter sloths and other small animals in the neighborhood.

This is a lovely alternative to resorts and hotels in a beautiful part of Costa Rica. The house, pool and grounds are all excellent and well-maintained. The bedrooms are in separate parts of the house so are very private if two couples want to share. The road up is a 4X4 challenge...steep and unpaved...but arriving back at Casa Miramar makes it all worth it! We enjoyed every minute.
If you're looking for tourist destination with lots of amenities, this is not the spot. If you're looking for lovely empty beaches, local flavor and wonderful nature and wildlife, you can't do better than this area of Costa Rica. The newly paved road along the coast will increasingly bring development....come now!

A perfect retreat! Amazing views, great house and lush natural surroundings. It is so wonderful, it will be hard to leave and visit the variety of great restaurants and beaches near by.

Peaceful setting with incredible views! Was a great location for exploring the central and southern part of CR. We stayed here on our honeymoon for a little over 2 weeks in June '08 and saw 2 types of toucans, a green parrot and several other pretty birds almost every day and all from the patio of Casa Miramar. The drive up to the residence is really fun and you definitely need a 4x4 after a good rainfall. Would definitely recommend this place! Grocery stores in Uvita were great too! Housekeepers were very friendly and helpful as well.

A piece of paradise; my wife and I booked a six week tour of Costa Rica and ended up spending four of those six weeks at Casa Miramar. No pictures could ever capture the beauty of this casa on the hill. Spectacular views, spacious, air-conditioned master suite and the serenity of a dipping pool, made us feel like royalty. Private enough to be as free as we wanted to be, while conveniently located above Las Terrazas restaurant and less than a five minute drive to the grocery store, ten minute drive to the state park or twenty minutes to Dominical, we found this place to be ideal. The level of hospitality shown to us by the owner was unmatched. We definitely look forward to our next stay, perhaps a few months! Pura Vida!

There is nothing to compare to waking up to a symphony of bird songs and a cup of Costa Rican coffee in this beautiful spot. The surprise was the 4 or 5 gourmet restaurants close by...one within walking distance. It is the best of both worlds...serene and private, gorgeous views and the option of exploring the jungle and enjoying exceptional food. We loved it!
