USING OUR CAR instead of renting:

We have a small saloon car in Barbados that we are able to allow our guests to use for an additional cost. It is much more convenient, and much less expensive than renting from the car hire companies on the island. It also includes full rescue and recovery if you should have a collision or even run out of fuel! We take care in making sure that it is maintained regularly to ensure that it is safe and roadworthy for us and our guests. The car is available for a minimum of three days. You are able to make arrangements in advance, and will need to send us copies of your UK driving licence so that we are able to arrange insurance. You must remember to take your UK driving licence to Barbados, or you will be unable to obtain a Barbados permit, and unable to use our car. If you would like further information then please ask.

Getting around the island

If you don't wish to use a car, the public transport is excellent. Yellow buses travel most places during the day, and Blue buses travel during the evening hours as well. It is a cheap and efficient way of seeing the island, and very entertaining! As people are so friendly and helpful there are no concerns about getting lost, or not knowing where to get on and off. There is a bus stop a minutes walk away at the end of the road.

Local food - do try!

Our favourite place to eat is right at the end of our road! From Tuesday to Saturday, from about midday onwards, you will find Papa Earl parked adjacent to the cricket/football pitch at the end of the road. He has a green estate car parked under the tree. He is a rastafarian and therefore vegetarian. He serves the most delicious food and drink from the back of his car. A 'small' meal in a polystyrene container will only cost $9, and will be absolutely delicious! Do not be concerned about queuing up with the locals to sample this delicacy - they will respect you for trying true Bajan food! His fruit juices may either be coconut and ginger, or perhaps passion fruit - they are really refreshing and delicious. Never be concerned about buying local food from the back of a little white van or similar. You will not be poisoned, but delighted at the excellent quality of such reasonably priced food.
