Fall Stay

My husband, toddler daughter, and I just returned from a lovely stay in the cottage. It was a perfect home for our small family. My daughter slept in her room on a trundle bed that we left low to the ground (both comfortable and safe for her), and took a "bath" in the large kitchen sink. The "partition walls" were great for us as we could hear her from our bedroom. The "newness" of the cottage was welcomed. It was clean, fairly well equiped and comfortable. The property owner was very helpful pre-stay, and even sent the gas company over to make sure the heat was working this season as she knew we had a small child with us and cold night were predicted. It was much appreciated, and my interactions with her were some of the best I have ever had with an owner.
We cooked breakfast and dinner "at home" each day of our stay, and dined out on the four season porch. I loved having a dishwasher, full sized stove, fridge with full freezer, mircowave, and washer/dryer. Each evening we all snuggled in the living room area by the gas stove and watched movies on the flat screen/dvd. This is my kind of camping!
We had a very active vacation and enjoyed may local activities including the Norman Rockwell Museum (***), Shopping and Dining in Great Barrington (**), Touring Downtown Stockbridge (**), Hancock Shaker Village (**), Furnace Brook Winery (**), Hike to Bash-Bish Falls (***), Apple Picking/Cider Donuts/Hayride at Hilltop Orchards (****). I wouldn't bother visiting Le Trois Emme winery down the road - the proprietor isn't a person who should be hosting guests. Spend your time and hard earned money someplace you are welcomed.
We are already planning on when we will be able to return. We loved the cabin and had an awesome time! Just remember to bring anything you might need for your stay based on what type of living you will be doing at the cabin - dishwasher soap, dish soap, laundry soap, papertowels, tissues, shower gel, shampoo, garbage bags, etc. The items you take for granted in a hotel need to be supplied by you. Other than that, it is a perfect spot for a relaxing time in a natural setting - enjoy your stay!
