Saint Francis of Assisi was the first to perceive the beauty and tranquillity of this small corner of Tuscany which lies just outside the ancient walls surrounding Cortona. He made this his spiritual abode and founded the monastery 'Le Celle' which is situated at about 100 metres from the villa. Villa Le Celle near Cortona is immersed in a vast fenced garden with olive trees and vines with a spectacular view of Cortona, the prominent bell tower of the Dome and the imposing church of Santa Maria Nuova. An enchanting panorama of the ancient town extending to the whole of the Val di Chiana can be enjoyed from almost every corner of the house, from the living room and the bedrooms on the mid level to the patio and swimming pool which is surrounded by olive trees and scented lavander. This ancient farmhouse has been lovingly restored in typical Tuscan style and has every modern comfort to ensure a pleasant stay and a memorable holiday.
