Villefranche-sur-Mer holiday townhome

Just returned from a two week stay at this wonderful apartment in Villefranche. It is perfectly situated in the old town for the shops and restaurants and only a short walk from the main beach. The flat is spacious and comfortable - everything works and it was spotlessley clean when we arrived. The air conditioning was a real plus as the weather was typical for July. We have four young children and they were very happy inside when it got too hot and this could be a real benefit if the weather was not good.

We ate at least one meal in the apartment each day and the kitchen is well equipped and the fact that the very large living room is combined with the kitchen and dining room suited us very well. The bathrooms also have great showers and a bath with plenty of space. There is a great little balcony with a view over the bay to Cap Ferrat which is perfect for an evening drink. The town is completely pedestrianised around the apartment and there is a wonderful square where the children could play right outside the apartment.

You don't need a car if you stay in the old town but be warned the food shops are expensive. We found that the saving on a hire car more than made up for the extra expense though. There are various vegetable stalls most of the week and a small market on the main road on Saturday morning. Also useful is the freezer shop for essentials. You can get fresh fish daily on the quay by the Hotel Welcome.

Probably the best thing about this apartment are the charming owners Dieter and Nicole who were the most welcoming hosts. We arrived late in the evening with four hungry children to find a hot lasagne in the kitchen which was a real godsend with all shops shut. Dieter made it very clear that if we had any problems or questions that we should contact him and he was kind enough to collect us from the station with our heavy bags and take us back at the end of the holiday. They are clearly very proud of their apartment and want their guests to enjoy it too.

We thoroughly recommend this as a holiday for families like ourselves who will find Villefranche and this great apartment to be a winning combination.
