Just Gorgeous!

A friend and I stayed in the small cottage in August. The view of the small harbor was gorgeous. Ron & Liz have renovated the cottage and it was most attractive and comfortable. It is furnished with everything you could want including a microwave, coffee-maker, and a gas grill outside. There is a flat-screen TV with Direct TV and a DVD player, if you must make contact with the outer world. We ate our meals at a table on the porch, overlooking the small harbor. Did I mention that the view is gorgeous? If you are into boating or fishing, this is the place to be.
Ron was very helpful and had many good recommendations. We picked up some gourmet goodies from the Five Islands Market, less than half a mile away, ate lobster at the picnic tables at Five Island Lobster (maybe one mile away), and enjoyed the view of the boats there. We ended each meal on the pier with an ice cream cone. One night, with friends visiting, we had a fabulous meal at the Robinhood Free Meetinghouse. We enjoyed the wonderful chocolates and candies and whoopee pies from MainSweets. We poked around the shops in nearby Bath. My friend, a knitter, declared the yarn shop to have the best selection she had ever seen. I found the cook shop to have the best selection that I have ever seen. We visited the Maine Maritime Museum and then cruised the Kennebec looking at lighthouses. We lazed on the beach at Reid State Park, a beautiful crescent of sand surrounded by craggy rocks and pine trees. There is a toddler’s lagoon there with warmer water and no waves for the little ones.
It was a wonderful two weeks and I would recommend the site to anyone who wants to get away and relax.
