I had never been to Costa Rica and I was looking forward to my trip. I was expecting nice accomodations based on what friends had told me about this resort, but when I got to Paradise Breezes I was blown away! Amazing.. truly. We arrived at night and honestly after traveling for a long distance along a bumpy, dusty gravel road any resort that offered a paved driveway would have seemed like Edan, but upon entering our villa we knew we were in for a special stay. Our villa, of which there are several, was modern and comfortable; large glass windows and doors, stone and tile floors, tall wood ceilings, modern art, and a central sound system inside and out (bring CD's). It had it's own infinty-edged swimming pool, a very warm spa and an outdoor shower. There were 4 bedrooms each with their own bath and terrace. And it was while sipping drinks on one of those terraces during sunset that we watched a fascinating conflict between a large, unyielding iguana and an aggitated tucan posturing for territory; several drinks later the outcome was still unresolved. Were these beasts of Nature, we asked ourselves, or pets on Paradise Breezes' payrole? The display was just too suspiciously perfect.
The first morning we laid in bed, deep in crisp white sheets looking out over a verdant jungle towards the expanse of the Pacific Ocean; we could have laid there all day and would have been just fine... but. But, as you may or may not know this part of Costa Rica offers a lot to do and see. The resort's capable concierge who is both friendly and unwittingly cute arranged all our outings including snorkling, zip lining, horseback riding and dining. A couple of times he arranged to have a chef, an excellent chef, come and cook for us in house. He also arranged to have a masseuse rub us down every afternoon after our various adventures which, if you can imagine, was the perfect way to sooth our exilerated, but beleaguered muscles; a keen segway to the afore mentioned drinks (buy alcohol at the airport upon arrival).
We stayed 4 nights, but in truth we could have used a few more; we never got that day of just lying around the pool... next time. Not to go on and on, but I truly can't say enough about our stay. I can't imagine any resort offering a more sublime and complete experience. Thank you Paradise Breezes... seriously; I can't wait to come back!
