A Wonderful Experience!

Will. Monticello, IN, U.S.A.
Review Submitted: October 29, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
We found the cottage on the 600 acre castle estate one of the best places we have ever stayed! The experience is not only wonderful but unique! When we arrived it was dark and we were exhausted from traveling. The next morning when we opened the front door and saw the view of the courtyard and the castle beyond it was wonderful!!! Edward is one of the nicest and most helpful " innkeepers" we have every met. He goes out of his way to make you feel at home. The time and consideration he gives his guests are well above and beyond the norm. If you are looking for a truly unique vacation experience --- this is the place for you. The only negative that we can think of is that our stay was way too short!!!

What a place!

Russell Macaluso Carlisle, PA
Review Submitted: August 28, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
Finding this gem on the internet was like discovering a treasure. Lough Cutra was even nicer than the wonderful pictures could convey. It was like living on a Medieval estate, with the castle looming over us and the sound of the rooster and chickens in the morning, the gardens, the horses and the thousands of pheasants (one even visited us in the dining room one night!). A fantastic time was had by our three generations including our 2 year old grandson Aidan. Hiking on the estate was amazing and Whalen's Pub is the best...Thanks Edward for the recommendation. The place is cozy and safe and clean, and gives a true feel of the Irish countryside. Edward and Ruth are so helpful in making suggestions and in answering questions by e-mail that we were able to find places that we would not have otherwise experienced. It was a phenomenal place to celebrate a "milestone Birthday" as my wife prefers to call it! Too bad all good things must pass, but the memories of Lough Cutra will live on.

Finding Family Roots in County Galway

Review Submitted: August 19, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
The memories are still fresh of Henry House and our family experience at Lough Cutra. When I rented the house for a week for our family of six adults, I was not sure I hit on the right note given the "wants" of six indivdual personalities and lifestyles. However, when we arrived and drove into the grounds there was some relief that this was ok but when my 25 yr. old daughter started screaming with joy ,"How did you ever find this place?")when she saw the inside of the house, the dining room, living room, kitchen and bedrooms, I knew that we were in for a good week. Gort was the town my father lived as a young boy, so staying at Lough Cutra gave us a base to try to discover some of our family roots....Great dinners were had in the dining room with the fireplace and good wine and pints of Guinness embellished the evenings. Memories are not just of sights we experienced throughout beautiful Ireland but the real connection with family and my kids sense of history is the memory I was hoping for. Thanks for helping us with that. Bill

A little piece of paradise

Angela&Pat DUBLIN
Review Submitted: May 19, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
My partner and I spent a long week here, to say that it is traquile and delightful is an understatement. From the very first contact with Edward the owner (his patients with my thousand questions) to the moment we left this little piece of heaven on earth the was just perfect. The cottage charming, very well manintained, hugh and yet very very cosy! Has all the ammenities and the open fires just adds to the already wonderful atmosphere. The grounds are beautiful, peaceful and private, very very private. The lake is a must for any fisherman or like myself, just for a leisurely afternoon on the boat.
Could not recommend highly enough and will definately be returning. At Lough Cutra, you leave the husle and busle of the world at its gates!
