We had a wonderful time. All the best, Mike (1/07/08) 3. We were delighted to see this home available again. Thank you, Best regards, Maureen (11/30/07) 4. What a gorgeous spot. Karen (8/12/07) 5. Great Place! Thank you and Happy New Year!! Elizabeth (12/28/07) 6. Rob, We had a lovely time at your cabin, which was beautiful. My husband said it was like living inside a sculpture. We also enjoyed watching the three wild turkeys that roamed the grounds. The sky and lake were totally white the whole time we were there -- its own kind of beauty, but if you're still renting the cabin when both are blue, we may try to go down again for what I'm sure is a very different view from the house! Thanks again and Happy New Year -- Diane (12/30/07)

Guest comments: 7. Just wanted to say we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at your lovely home on Pepin. It was truly soothing to the soul. Thanks for your flexibility regarding dates. We appreciate it. Thank you, Connie (6/29/08) 10. Dear Rob, We had a great stay in your beautiful home. Thank you. We’d love to come back!! Thanks for your hospitality. Best Regards, Mandy and Friends (7/13/08) 11. We had a great time at your beautiful cottage! If anyone of your future guests are looking for fun things to do, we went for a sailboat ride through 'Sail Pepin' which was great fun- Our 'captain,' Dave Sheridan recommends the starlight sail, but we had a great time during the day. I think that was the highlight of our activities. Thanks for letting us 'borrow' your home for a while! Mary D (8/04/08)

Guest comments: 12. Thank you so much for allowing me and my family to spend the weekend at your cabin on Lake Pepin. It was just beautiful…the whole weekend was perfect. Thank you, Angela (9/05/08) 13. Rob, We’ve just arrived home from a great weekend overlooking Lake Pepin! Your home is awesome. A couple of things - we grilled steaks on the grill last night and saw two beautiful deer looking up at us, as we enjoyed a cocktail before dinner! Then -- this morning as we ate breakfast, Lee reached up to bring down the little model of your home. With it came the magazine Log Cabin Living and were we thrilled to find the several page article featuring your home! Sue (9/14/08) 14. Dear Rob, We all enjoyed our stay. Your place is very beautiful, has great views and was very comfortable. I will definitely recommend it to my family and friends. Thank you! Jim (10/01/08)

Quiet and Romantic Retreat

Mpls Couple Minneapolis
Review Submitted: April 20, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
WOW-
My wife and I snuck out of town for a short weekend to celebrate our anniversary. We were hoping for a quiet setting where we could enjoy eachothers company, a bottle of wine and a cozy fire. The cabin provided everything were were looking for and much more. Matter of fact, we enjoyed ourselves so much we contacted the property owner and arranged to stay an additional night.
The cabin was stunning, it reminded me of a gingerbread house, strategically located on the ridge of the bluff top with a perfect view of the Mississippi River/Lake Pepin.
It was very clean and tastefully decorated. We easily found all of the items we needed for our stay and took advantage of a few of the extras we stumbled across like the sound system on the main floor. The large stone fireplace became the focal point of our stay. I like the fact that it was easy to start and there was plenty of dry wood within close reach.
The spring leafless trees provided a panoramic view of water from nearly every window. We took advantage of the warm weather and walked the upper property strolling through the heavily wooded lot, taking in nature at its best. The long driveway and lightly traveled access road were great for taking a walk any time of day- the views of the Rush River Valley were specatular. We caught sight of a few eagles as they made their way around the river valley, soaring in the sky and even landing in a tree very close to the cabin, it was quite the spectacle.
I would recommend this property for a romantic get away, a girls weekend or a guys weekend. There are many great golf courses in the area, fishing, boating or simply sharing time together.
Thanks Rob for sharing this wonderful property, we'll definitely be coming back.
Owner's Response: WOW- Thanks for the wonderful review! We pride ourselves in making everything as enjoyable as possible for your stay with us at Lion Downe Cottage.

Relaxing

Rob & Tamara Southern Wisconsin
Review Submitted: November 18, 2009 Date of Stay: November 2009
What a gem of a place you have. The generosity you have in sharing your "home" with others is given unselfishly. We farm so we don't get much time off, but this was our 25th anniversary so we wanted time away from our very busy lives. It was truely amazing to be able to do nothing! We spent time with just us! No landlines (if we didn't own a business there would have been no cell phones) no television, no one driving in my driveway, no noise. We didn't want to leave! Thank you so much for sharing your home!!
Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind and gracious comments!! We look forward to hosting you again!

Absolutely beautiful!

Kim651 Eagan, MN
Review Submitted: November 10, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
I have stayed at Lion Downe two times with a group of colleagues and both have been wonderful experiences. We have rented other properties before and found this property far superior in comparison. The setting is beautiful, the area is quaint and there are many nearby towns and attractions, from a Winery/Cidery to Lake Pepiin and wonderful dining at the Harbor View. Also a perfect place to relax and take in the beautiful views. Beautiful place to get that perfect shot for photographers. Eagles nests are nearby and wild life is plentiful! Highly recommended!
Owner's Response: Thanks for returning to Lion Downe Cottage for your rest, relaxation and adventures!

Get Away

Lots of laughs Minneapolis, MN USA
Review Submitted: August 26, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
We came to Lions Downe as a group of nurses that were all in need of a refreshment and time to be ourselves. We all have lives that tend to keep us too busy and little time to laugh. We found the house to be what we needed to all get together for our annual long week end. The home was very well maintained and clean. We took advantage of the kitchen and grill to cook meals there. There were 10 of us and with 3 bathrooms it really worked out nicely. The rear view of the lake was breathtaking. We experienced the eagles soaring over the house several times. We heard the train but did not see the tracks where it ran until we went sight seeing. We traveled to the little towns that were along the lake/river and found some wonderful treasures. Wonderful bakeries, stores, winery/cidery, antiques, restaurants and more. Everyone was very friendly and eagar to help us. We had beautiful weather to be outside in. My encounter with the owner Rob was always friendly and accomadating for all of us. He made himself available for any questions or needs. We found wine, chocolate and flowers awaiting us. A very nice personal touch. We all would recommend this house to others not only for summer but other seasons as well.
Owner's Response: What a pleasure for Heather and I to know our local nurses were able to recharge their batteries at Lion Downe Cottage! Thanks for providing care and comfort to those in need, we really appreciate everything you do!!

Our Second Visit

Hildes Rice Lake, WI
Review Submitted: July 15, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
A year ago we stayed at the Lion Downe Cottage with two couples, and just knew we'd be back! The time was right to share it with two other couples last weekend, and we were not disappointed. In fact, we loved "showing it off" to new friends! We had planned a wonderful steak-on-the-grill dinner for the first night, but didn't know our host would treat us to a wonderful red wine, topped off with chocolates from Switzerland! The view is awesome . . . truly on top of the world . . . and that's just how we felt the whole time we were there!
Owner's Response: Thank You!!! It is our pleasure to share Lion Downe Cottage with others that appreciate it as we do! We are looking forward to hosting you for your third visit!
