Gooney Lodge is located in the Browntown Valley below Shenandoah National Park. The earliest portion of the house was built in the 1700's. Gooney has been written about in several books and articles, including John Weaver's 'As I Live and Breathe'. Current owners have owned the property since 1958. Located on the banks of Gooney Creek, the main house boasts balconies overlooking vaulted ceilings in living and dining rooms with double fireplace, claw foot tubs (one with shower) in the two bathrooms, an eclectic mix of antique furnishings, including a pump organ and antique victorola and a 100 foot front porch with glider and ceiling fans facing the creek. The kitchen has the original stone walls. Swing for children, books, board games, hammock and rocking chairs on the porch. No TV. Radio/CD player, phone for local calls. Fishing in creek and nearby Shenandoah River. Hiking, swimming, canoeing, caving, Civil War battlefields, wineries all proximate. See our website below for more info.
