Enjoy your privacy and time in an exclusive residential area right on Lake Como’s western shore in the charming town of Argegno. Our recently remodeled apartment is on the ground floor of a quaint 3 unit building. It has two double bedrooms, two full bathrooms with tub and/or shower, a sunny, big open planned fully-equipped and very comfortable kitchen/dining/living room area (with working fireplace) that all lead out onto the terrace/garden which sits right out on the lake. Take in the amazing view of the Italian and Swiss Alps from the terrace while soaking in our hot tub or dining “al fresco.” Enjoy easily accessible parking and why not try fishing right off our terrace?

Lake Como is known as one of the most beautiful and culturally rich areas in Italy. At the same time it is still relatively undiscovered by tourists and is not overwhelmed like Tuscany, Venice or Rome. There are many perfect day trips you can make from our apartment, including to visit museums and shopping in Milan and Lugano, to the picturesque town of Bellagio, to the Alps and to other lakes in Northern Italy. Argegno itself is full of water sports activities and great restaurants. We are also only about 15 minutes away from Cernobbio and the unique Grand Hotel Villa D'Este. Como, Italy’s silk capital, with its numerous silk factory outlets, is only 20 minutes away. Milan is less than 1 hour away by car (less than 50Km or 30 miles) and so our apartment makes an ideal place to stay while making day trips into for cultural, sporting and business reasons. Lake Como itself is known for its villas (many now owned by Hollywood stars) and gardens.

When you stay in our apartment you are staying in our second home and we want you to feel and be at home.

Information and Things to Do: All travel information will be provided to you when you book the apartment. We have also provided in the apartment a lot welcome information about local tours and things to do in the area, like walking itineraries and suggested boat trips. There is also plenty of information about our favorite restaurants to visit and local traditions and events you want to make sure not to miss

Our Neighbors: !The area is becoming a haven for Hollywood and European stars. For example, George Clooney’s 'Villa Oleandra' the villa he purchased from the Heinz family is only 15 minutes away, and George is known for socializing with the locals and eating in our restaurants Similarly, many Italian football players, opera singers and politicians have holiday homes in the area on Lake Como.

Our group had a delightful, relaxing time at the property. The ability to walk into the village, to lakeside transport and good restaurants was extremely appreciated.

Plumbing problems could not overcome the relaxing nature of the venue, but you'd better like churchbells! Lack of Internet services in the town could hamper the tekkie visitor, but you're not here to work!

Beautiful Lakefront Terrace

We stayed in this nicely-appointed apartment for 10 days in August. It was obvious that a great deal of care had been taken with the recent renovations: everything was in tip-top shape and the decor was tasteful and warm. We spent the majority of our time on the terrace. We used the grill to prepare fresh fish and vegetables purchased in the market in Argegno, which was held on Mondays. We dined by the lake and spent hours sitting out there relaxing during the day. There was quite a bit of traffic through the yard/terrace area, as neighbors use that area as a through-way. Also, a work barge was parked right out front of the property for most of the week, and his generator was quite loud when he used it. Although the heat was not working well in the hot tub, we found that the sun warmed the water nicely during the day, and so it was reasonably comfortable (the jets worked fine). Parking was easy, the ferry comes by frequently, and the town is quaint and friendly. Overall, it was a wonderful place to call our home base during our stay in the incredible Lake Como area.

lovely property

Argegno is a beautiful town and this property sits superbly on its waterfront. We didn't have a rental car and found it extremely convenient for both the ferry and C10 and C20 bus from Como (bus is 2 Euros). For our early train departure from Como, the taxi ride from Argegno to Como was about 37 Euros plus tip and took about 1/2 hour.

Argegno is a small town, and the apartment is about 3 min. walk from the center. By ferry Argegno is about 1/2 hour from either Como or Bellagio, and 40 minutes from Varenna on the other side of the lake. The ferries are a beautiful way to travel up and down the Lago di Como, although the fares are not cheap. But it's entertainment as well as transportation, so it's not that bad. Argegno is not near any train station. The town is definitely not overrun by tourists (like Bellagio, for example), although a fair number of day tripping Italians stop off in the main square for an ice cream or caffe.

The apartment was impeccably clean. Spotless! The owner was good at responding to email inquiries. There were a few small complaints that we had that the owner promised would be remedied after I emailed her about them on our return. Nothing major, just a little disappointing when you're so close to perfect. One thing not mentioned in the description that became a running joke with us was the proximity not necessarily of the church, but of its bells. All appliances (including the washing machine) worked well.

Argegno has a Monday food and household goods market in the harbor's parking lot, just 2 minutes from the apartment. Besides that, there is a frutti vendolo in town, as well as a bakery and alimentari. No supermarket, though, but all the necessities are available at the local stores.

There are stupendous slopes to be climbed where the town creeps up the mountains. Or you could spend the entire time sitting on the terrace listening to the water and admiring the view.
