Great family vacation house!

We stayed at this lovely home in July of 2008. We had a wonderful week and our young children (ages 2-3) had a blast. The home is very large and perfect for two families. Just a perfect house and yard and lake for a family vacation!! The lake is nice and small, and the view from the deck is wonderful, and the sunsets from the dock are so AMAZING!! I was recommend this house to anyone with small children because the size of the lake and the zero depth is just perfect for little ones!!!
Good:
House is very large and has two floors, 7 total beds
House has large deck with great view of the lake
Location is close to very cute lake towns
HUGE yard with plenty of room to play and run
Great lakefront with zero depth (perfect for little ones)
There is a shared small play area with swing and sandbox
There is a shared dock with a bench to view the amazing sunsets!
House provides TONS of waters toys! You don't need to bring any!
House provides TONS of life jackets for kids and adults (none for infants)
House provides TONS of towels, you don't need to bring any
House has two refrigerators (one is in the garage but is perfect for beverages)
House is in a very quiet area, no noisy neighbors
Not many boats on the water, which we think is a plus
Very shallow for a long long way out, great for little kids.
Concern:
The dishes in the cabinet were filthy. I think the issue was a dishwasher that was not working. It ran, and sounded like it worked, but the dishes always came out dirtier than they went in (we pre-rinsed the dises before putting them into the dishwasher). The owners ask that renters run the dishwasher right before they leave, so I assume what happens is the cleaning folks come in and put all the dishes from the dishwasher into the cabinets without realizing they are dirty. So we had to hand wash our dishes all week, kind of a bummer. I would recommend washing any dishes already in the cabinets before using them (if the dishwasher has not been fixed). We did leave a note that the dishwasher was not working so it could have been fixed. If it has not been fixed, I would highly recommend washing any dishes right out of the cabinet before using them. They were just so so so so dirty.

Owner's Response: The cleaning staff relayed the message regarding the dishwasher and the dishwasher was working before the next guests arrived. My daughter and son-in-law live within 200 feet of this home and are available 24/7 for any problems. Their phone number is posted in the home and we encourage our guests to notify us immediately if there are any problems. We would have gladly sent out a repairman during their visit had we known it was not working.
