Welcome to beautiful Lummi Island, one of the famous San Juan Islands! Two Marvelous Island Retreats, for an Unforgettable Vacation Getaway: Charming, intimate (and yet spacious) cottage facing the ever-changing ocean waters of beautiful Hale Passage, and featuring Magnificent Mountain and Water Views! Lots of boats passing, and ocean wildlife. The seaside cottage has a large deck overlooking the view, a small 'morning coffee sipping' deck right on the beach, and several smaller personal spaces for more private pursuits. Collect shells and beach glass as an otter looks on, or watch the wild sea birds and soaring eagles, endlessly fascinating. There are two good sized bedrooms (queen beds) facing the water, and a third, smaller, extra room with bunk beds. This unique and engaging cottage (actually a well-designed two-story house) is ideal for a family with children, or for two families to share.

Lummi Island is the northernmost of the beautiful San Juan Island chain in the Pacific Northwest. We think of it as more intimate and welcoming than the larger islands to the south - and easier to get to as well (ferry lines are much smaller or non-existent!) and not so crowded with too many people. The climate is generally mild and exhilarating, and we have lots of sunny days with cool, breezy evenings. The island is perfect for walking, biking, picnicking, and relaxing. There are a couple of very nice restaurants on the island, and fresh seafood is available to grill up on your private deck. For more active fun, take a short drive into friendly Bellingham, down to sophisticated Seattle, or up to beautiful Vancouver BC (ay), where lots of civilized amenities abound. Or, take a drive to Mount Baker for a hike or skiing, one of the most beautiful mountains in the world. Come see us, we believe that you will love it here just as we do.

    Discounts available for longer stays (one week or more).
    Off-Season .... $175/night.

    Two weeks notice is required for cancellations. Repeated cancellations at any of our vacation rental properties will be charged 50% of the amount for the confirmed booking period. A confirmed booking is when a client has provided credit card information for their rental booking at Rain City Vacation Rentals -- DBA: Flying Fish Cottage, Old Glory Farm.
  • Additional rental available: The second unique getaway is a turn of the century farmhouse on 5 view acres, with the same great water and Mountain Views, and abounding with wildlife outside your front door!! The farmhouse sits on five beautiful acres, and has a large deck overlooking the view. Eagles, deer, birds of all kinds, and other wildlife abound. There is a roomy master suite upstairs, a smaller, intimate bedroom downstairs, and a third, very private first floor bedroom separated from the main house by a short hallway. Ideal for a family with children, or to share for two families. Larger parties can be accommodated.
    Each cottage features spacious and comfortable living/dining room areas, and a fully equipped kitchen.
    Both cottages provide beach access. We provide a really nice Propane Gas barbeque for cookouts on summer evenings, or any evening for that matter. Each cottage accommodates up to 6, and we can provide mattresses for more guests, w/added per-person fee

For special occasions without leaving our beautiful Lummi Island, you can visit either a fine gourmet restaurant or a friendly local café/watering hole, both with great food.
