Where to go in Lake Trasimeno/ Umbria:
Numerous medieval villages surrounding Lake Trasimeno offer an enchanting insight into this area's culture and history. Castigione del Lago, Panicale, Paciano, Monte del Lago and Passignano sul Trasimeno are just a few that will get your attention. Grab a ferry and spend a day exploring 3 lake islands - Le Isole Maggiore, Minore and Polvese. After a day of exploration, you will truly treasure the ambiance and tranquility that Il Casalino offers.
Umbria has more than its share of world-renown destinations including Perugia, Todi, Assisi, Gubbio and the wine regions of Orvieto and Montefalco. Pack a picnic lunch of fresh bread, local cheeses and meats, and fresh plump produce, then head out. Feast your eyes on steep-sided hills cut by deep ravines, rolling hills with wheat fanning in the breeze, monasteries, castles, farmsteads nestled in vineyards, pastures of grazing sheep, and ancient towns perched high on hillsides, separated from the nearby countryside only by stone walls.
Where to go in Tuscany:
Tuscany is only a hop, skip and a jump from your home base. Take the road south of Lake Trasimeno towards Castigione del Lago and then follow the signs to Montepulciano. You'll be there in about 1/2 hour and believe me, you will enjoy the sights along the way. This Tuscan hilltop town is famous for Vino Nobile di Montepulciano. Nearby Pienza and Montalcino are not to be missed.
Siena and Florence (Firenze in Italian) are each worth a day of exploration. These cities are best reached by train to avoid the hassle of traffic congestion in and out of the cities and parking.
Guest Book Comments:
This was the first time in Italy and we couldn't have picked a better spot! The house was every bit as good as it looked from photos, not to mention the peace ...! We had a wonderful holiday. The house is beautiful and the surrounding country fabulous. I will definitely be recommending the property to my friends, family and colleagues. The house was perfect and the position ideal. You are so lucky to own such a lovely house. And the lady who manages the house, absolutely fantastic. ...... Kathryn and Felix, California, US; globalsl@yahoo.com
