Community and Convenience:
Our brownstone is located in Harlem, which is at the northern end of Manhattan. Harlem is truly a 'community' within a large city. Neighbors know each other and come out on their stoops to say hi. Most buildings are less than 10 stories, so you can see the sky rather than be surrounded by skyscrapers. Residents cultivate community gardens as well as their backyards. It has a friendly atmosphere that is different from many other Manhattan neighborhoods. Yet, our brownstone has very convenient access to see all of New York City's attractions in other neighborhoods. The M1 bus is one block away on 5th avenue and travels right alongside Central Park, The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Guggenheim. The 4/5/6 subway (east side) is less than a 10 minute walk, and 42nd Street(Grand Central)is only 3 stops away. The 2/3 subway (west side) is also less than a 10 minute walk and Times Square is just 5 stops away(approx. 20 min).
Comfort:
We travel often, and really appreciate staying in villas and homes where it's clear the owners care about our comfort and convenience. We try very hard to provide our guests with a comfortable, homey environment. There is a washer/dryer with detergent in the apartment, along with an iron/ironing board, and hair dryer. The bed linens are high quality and the kitchen is fully-equipped with microwave, blender, coffee maker, etc. as well as spices. The apartment has it's own thermostat and hot water heater, so your comfort is not dependent on the rest of the house. We live in the upper floors of the townhouse, so we are available for questions and directions as you need them. There is a phone with local service so you can book restaurant reservations, and call to make plans with others when you need to. We have provided a binder with listings of local grocery stores and restaurants. There is also wireless internet available if you like to travel with your laptop.
