Casita Montoya is the perfect place for romance. Great skiing at nearby Taos Ski Valley ; walk to historic Taos Plaza. 2-night min. exc. holidays. All-new furnishings, a/c, bedroom skylight, King bed, down comforter, LL Bean thick towels, HBO & Starz, wireless net, and a fenced-in backyard with tall cottonwoods. If you're drawn to Taos, you're probably a skier (it's excellent at nearby Taos Mountain) or you’re spiritual (our upstairs loft even has a meditation bench) or you’re into health and fitness (yoga mat and weights supplied.) Wood floors and ceilings in both rooms add a special charm and the hand-plastered walls in the newly-constructed bedroom are tinted a salmon color that makes your skin look fantastic. There’s a well-equipped kitchenette in the living room or walk to excellent restaurants nearby. Gas fireplace stove has a thermostat so you can be as toasty as you want. Considered 'sacred' by many of the residents, Taos Mountain is a world-class ski resort with an outstanding ski school. Taos has a rich history and cultural heritage, with numerous galleries, museums, metaphysical shops and festivals you can walk to from Casita Montoya. Must-see: the Gorge Bridge over the Rio Grande, and Wild Rivers Recreation Area, a deep canyon where the Rio Grande meets Red River and is great for hikers with lots of energy. Great Sand Dunes National Park is just over the border in Colorado.

Notes: This casita has a curved stairway to a charming loft for meditation, gazing out the window, looking down on your partner preparing dinner (or watching your partner look up at you, wondering when you're going to start dinner), storing your luggage, etc. You can't stand up in it (unless you're really, really short) but there's a meditation bench and a table with short legs, a rug and lounging pillows. Soothe your muscles after skiing - $70 for one hour massage. My friend will bring her massage table. Check before you grocery shop since we provide teas, mayo, ketchup, salt, sugar, etc. Bring your laptop (we have wireless Internet) and your cell phone (we don’t have a telephone). A well-behaved dog (no cats please, because of allergies) is welcome, however there is a pet fee and you're required to pick up after your pet.

Only Fabulous People Stay Here: We're incredibly lucky: only fabulous people have stayed at Casa Montoya and we expect the same for Casita Montoya. Casita looks much better than the photos. Landscaping was done but it snowed before we could take new photos. One good dog is allowed. Pet fee required.

Skiing Information: Nearby Taos Ski Valley is a world-class ski resort with an outstanding ski school. Ski during the day, then come home and get a massage or stroll to Taos Plaza or excellent restaurants just blocks from Casita Montoya.

Wonderful Post Holiday Get Away

Casita Montoya was wonderful! Upon our arrival we were greeted by the neighbor dogs. They were so cute and one came by each morning with a smile and a wag.

The casita was perfect for the two of us. We loved the kingsize bed and the wonderful bed linens. It was very comfy and we slept as if we were in our own bed. The owner had all of the necessities we needed from wine glasses and a cork screw to the good, 2 ply toilet paper that we use at home.

It's located not far from the historic plaza but we drove each day due to the amount of snow on the ground. It's convenient location to everything made it easy to run back and forth when necessary.

The only downside was the shower. It was very small and I couldn't take one without getting my hair wet. A shower cap is needed.

The casita was clean and cozy. A great place for 1 or 2 to enjoy and relax. We look forward to our next visit.

Wonderfully romantic stay!

We spent a few days in the casita and it was wonderful! They have all the amenities one could think of, a very comfy bed, a fenced yard for our Yorkie and so close to downtown! We walked to the Plaza every morning for a latte, then shopped and strolled before returning after lunch for a siesta. Winton was so helpful with directions and advice. We had a wonderfully romantic trip, both Taos and the Casita were fabulous and we'll definitely be back!!

My husband and I just returned from visiting Taos for five days and stumbled up on this jewel beforehand. This cozy little getaway was just perfect, the owner was quite meticulous in providing for a traveler's unexpected needs. Everything was laid out so well and it was sparkling clean, it was a comfort to come home to every evening after days of walking, driving and generally exploring the surrounding countryside. We walked a couple of times from the house to surrounding restaurants and the plaza, of course, but also made day trips to Abiqui, Ghost Ranch and Angel Fire. It was even warm enough to sit outside and drink our morning coffee most days. I was very happy overall with our stay. Thank you , Ellen.

We spent 4 wonderful nights at Casita Montoya while skiing at Taos Ski Valley. I was slightly injured the first day and did not ski the other 2 days. I so appreciated having everything I needed to relax, rejuvinate and recuperate in this compact space. From watching a movie from Ellen's collection to snuggling under the wonderful down comforter, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The casita is perfect for a romantic get-away, close to the wonderful Plaza for shopping, dining, or visiting friends, and the wireless Internet made it easy to keep "connected" on our schedule!
