Excellent vacation home

We enjoyed a wonderfull week at the Palm House. The house is well equiped, spacious and met all our expectations. The view from the backyard at the waterfront is amazing.
The kids enjoyed the big pool and jaccuzi.
The owner, Nell, was very kind and helpfull. She even called us a few weeks before arrival to check on specific needs or requests.
This was the best location we had during our holidays.
We recommend this house to everyone who wants to have a relaxed vacation but close enough to all the interesting places of South-West Florida.

We are back

We came back to this wonderful place and spent again 2 wonderful weeks at the Palm House. The house itself does provide everything you can think off, it is very well kept, the nice pool and the location on the waterfront makes it so great for someone who is looking for relaxing holidays. The house is in a quiet neighborhood, the beach is very close, a lot of shopping-opportunities nearby - just perfect. A big Thanks to the owner Nell with family who are so kind and so caring. We will be back for sure!

Great vacation destination!

During July, my family had a most relaxing vacation at the Palm House. We barbecued steaks on the gas grill and dined at sunset in the shade of the umbrella table, while enjoying the warm tropical breezes. The saline pool was so refreshing. We enjoyed the outdoor spa at midnight under a full moon. The fabulous views of the waterway were even evident from the inside looking out through the glass doors that line the full length of the great room.

The convenient location provided a grocery store, liquor store, and shopping -- all within walking distance.

With Fort Lauderdale just a block away, we enjoyed the many fine restaurants and beaches both cities had to offer.

Nell, the home owner, met us upon arrival to give the grand tour of the home. She continued to make sure that all of our needs were met throughout our stay.

This home was well-appointed, clean, comfortable, and beautiful. It exceeded our expectations, and we look forward to returning.

Palm House vacation

We had a great time at the Palm House. This home exceeded our expectations. The owner Nell welcomed us with a personal note, fruit basket and cold bottled water. Nell went out of her way to make sure our stay was comfortable and relaxing. Any small problems that arose were dealt with promptly. The view from the pool area is fantastic. The home is very clean and well maintained. We would definately recommend Palm House. We plan on returning next year and are already looking forward to it.

Frustrated with way owner dealt with us

We stayed for 1 week and found the owner, Nell, to be difficult to interact with about any problems. We were surprised by this interaction. To begin with, the website describes a "heated jacuzzi," which to us implies hot jacuzzi. We were unprepared for the fact that it takes AT LEAST two hours to warm it and only once did it get to 88 degrees. We tried to go in after the system was on for at least two hours and found only once that it was warm enough to do so by late morning. Several times we tried to address our frustration with Nell, which did not resolve our felt annoyance.

We also had issues with an email from the owner after we left about the the state of the house upon leaving. It seemed to imply we should have had the 6 tenants walk around with white gloves on our hands. For example, she commented on that there were smudge marks on a full wall of glass doors from our little children. We also had major problems with ants in the hall bathroom. While we did choose to deal with it and set out traps, it was the tone of the email afterwards that frustrated us. Instead of just saying sorry for the inconvience, she implied we had to have brought something in to the house to attract the ants. She also said that they had never had ant problems, which seems funny to me given that in the utility room, there were several choices of ant products to use.

I would not recommend this property to a friend based on the way the owner responded and dealt with us, particularly with regard to expression of concerns and her emails folllowing renting her home. I would also make sure that you have the time and patience to wait two hours for the jacuzzi to heat and be aware that it might not heat to a normal temperture for a jacuzzi.
Owner's Response: The Hayward Comfort Zone Jacuzzi/Spa heater works exactly as designed. When turned on, the temperature rises at about 7 degrees per hour to a maximum of about 100 F. A February Palm House guest reported 102 F. One cannot turn on the heater in the AM and expect it to continue to heat until the PM because it will cycle off after so many hours. This is a heated Jacuzzi, not a hot tub!The refund request of $50.00 (because the system was not understood) was declined.
The house has regular pest control service. I do not know where the ants came from, where they went nor what attracted them to that one bathroom during that one week. Ants were not reported anywhere in the house previously nor since.
The full $500 deposit was refunded even though there were additional cleaning charges due to the "state of the house" which included excessive beach sand on a sofa, on a rug, in the washing machine and laundry sink, food crumbs scattered throughout the house, food on the wall in the breakfast room, massive hand smears on a glass top table and the sliding glass doors. One foot of the magazine rack at the end of the sofa was splintered.
Due to their staggered arrival schedule, I did not meet all members of the three generations. I only met the senior person at check-in when I gave him a tour of the house, explained how different things worked, including the remote for the Jacuzzi, and presented him with the house keys. I had one brief conversation with the mother of the children the day before she departed when she told me about the ants. I was not aware of any attempts to communicate. A request for a pac n play for the three year old was provided and a request for an extended check-out time was granted.
It is with great pride that I provide the guests of the Palm House with a fabulous home to consider their own while they visit Tropical South Florida. Every attempt is made to make the visit a far better experience than expected. My commitment to excellence remains!
