This magnificent loft apartment is set on the 3rd floor in a 15th century Medici Palazzo. The location is exceptional, for you are stones throw to all the Florentine museums and important sites, shops, and bars and restaurants. The loft apartment is 90sqm (about 1000sqft) with amazingly high ceiling of 5meters (about16ft) high. The ceiling is the original 15th century Florentine wood work (a cassettoni) that has all been finely and painstakingly preserved. The apartment consists of an entrance hallway which leads you into the loft apartment with 2 huge cathedral windows that let a lot of light in. The flooring is the old Florentine terracotta, there is a small kitchenette with all the amenities necessary in a modern day kitchen. The bathroom has a shower and has all been finished with precious marble. The living area has been decorated with very unique antique Florentine furniture and some of the pieces are masterpieces of the old Florentine craftsmanship.

This is the Florence you see in the postcards and glossy coffee table books. The Piazza Reppublica only a few blocks away, the Uffizi Gallery, the Duomo and Ponte Vecchio Bridge an easy 5 to 10 minute walk. Just down the street is the famous Bargello National Museum. Going in the opposite direction, the Santa Maria Novella train station is an 10 minute walk. You are completely immersed in florentine art and history because you are in the area of Santa Croce (another cathedral) and all the the most important sites and museums are within 100 metres radius from the apartment.

Drip coffeemaker available upon request. The round dining table seats up to eight people. The kitchenette is fully stocked with dishes, pots and pans. The bathroom has a shower and has all been finished with precious marble. Seeing is believing how welcoming and beautiful this apartment is. The apartment is on the 3rd floor with no lift, so there are 70 steps, but it is all well worth the journey to this 'Medici jewel'. The location is exceptional, for you are stones throw to all the Florentine museums and important sites, shops, and bars and restaurants. The building itself is so centrally placed for it was said to have been built by one of the Medici for his French mistress. Shopping, Sightseeing, Restaurants, Fitness Center/Gym, Health/Beauty Spa, Antiquing, Cinemas/Movie Theaters, Live Theatre, Museums.

This is the Florence you see in the postcards and glossy coffee table books. The Piazza Reppublica only a few blocks away, the Uffizi Gallery, the Duomo and Ponte Vecchio Bridge an easy 5 to 10 minute walk. Just few metres away are the famous Bargello National Museum and Dante's house. Going in the opposite direction, the Santa Maria Novella train station is an 10 minute walk. Everything was excellent: location, decoration of the apartment, the hosts were extremely friendly and we have a really good time. There are lots of restaurants in the area. We highly recomend it.

My husband and I stayed for five nights in May 2009. It was a refreshing change from usually cramped European hotel rooms, and a great combination of antique furniture and modern amenities.

You're two blocks from Vivoli and a short walk from anything else you want to see in Florence. Around the corner is the a shop with the best pastries and coffee. I wanted to transport it back to Atlanta with me.

Simone was a charming host and thoughtfully provided a welcome gift of wine and other beverages for us.

I would not hesitate to stay here on a return trip to Firenze.

Brilliant! We had 4 nights in this wonderful apartment and will stay longer next time! For us, the location was fantastic and the apartment was very relaxing - perfect for getting a way from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Great Apartment

As long as you can manage the four flights of stairs, this is a great place to stay. The owner and his wife are very friendly. The apartment is exactly as described. The location is fine-- you can walk anywhere and there are many restaurants in the area, expensive and not. If you want to cook, there are small markets around the corner as well. Supermarket about ten minutes walk. I do not cook, but it seemed there was everything you might need-- range, broiler, pots, pans -- even a dishwasher. I am sure you can borrow anything else you might need-- the owner and his wife live across the entrance hall. You can walk in 15 minutes from the rail station, though with luggage, might be better to take a taxi-- will not cost much. Washing machine was handy. Free internet connection. Plenty of sunlight in the morning and plenty of air if you open the large windows. If you are using Firenze as a base to visit other locations in Tuscany, there is a bus about 5" walk-- which I think goes to the station. On Via Egiddo, if I recall correctly. Interesting tiny shop on the corner selling only tea and tea things-- open at odd hours. Extensive bookstore right around the corner. All in all, a very good experience. Judging from the entries in the guestbook in the apartment, other people also have had pleasant stays in this apartment.

This property exceeded our expectations. It was clean and in excellent condition. The location was very good, just a few minutes walk from the heart of Florence. The owner and his family were helpful and friendly. I would recommend it without hesitation.
