We are away from it all but close enough...: Sting Ray Villa is located on the beach about 40 Km from Santa Cruse, Costa Rica. THE ROADS ARE MUCH IMPROVED AND PAVED IN THE LAST FEW MONTHS! Within a reasonable distance (5 minutes to 1 1/2 hours drive) to great things to do and see; surfing, fishing, canopy touring, Eco touring, artisan villages, shopping, volcanoes and much more offered.

Fabulous property - on Sanctuary Resort ground

My family just returned from Costa Rica - Sting Ray Villa was a delight! Great rental, on the grounds of The Sanctuary Resort, so you can use the resort pool, charge drinks to the room, etc. Black sand beach was HOT - waves VERY large - but fun! Rental has a large kitchen will modern appliances. Three bedrooms with a futon, comfortably slept our 7 people. We organized to have a chef from the resort cook breakfast and dinner daily for us - very reasonable. We shopped for essentials, resort kept a tally of meat, fish, shrimp, etc, and anything that we needed to "borrow" from the kitchen, and gave us a bill at the end of our stay. Miss Sky canopy tour/zip line a must - about 30 minutes south. 4 wheel drive vehicle a must!

Luxurious Isolation

Rick and Susan Duebel the owners of this home were spectacular. This home is georgeous, but isolated. They completely prepared us for the visit. You do need to stop and get staples, but the grounds and the small resort that the home sits on were fantastic. Nutural beauty....this home is very close to the main resort pool and the ocean. We were in Costa Rica for our wedding....this home made it very special !!

Wonderful Experience

I got married at The Sanctuary resort in July 2008. We had an absolutely great time! Most of the wedding party stayed at Sting Ray Villa, which is a beautiful house. Wonderful views of the ocean and a short walk down hill to the ocean and pool area. This house is great. You won't be disappointed.

The road going to the Sanctuary sucks. There's no getting around it. I recommend a 4X4 vehicle and get GPS from the car rental place. Then stay patient and enjoy the ride. Once your there you'll never want to leave.

Our stay at the Sting Ray Villa

This is a remote location down a very bumbpy dirt road. I say that first so that you are not as surprised as we were. After getting over that, it is a great place. The owner was very accomadating. The house was very clean and nicely furnished and decorated. The daily maid service was exceptional. The sunsets from the veranda were breathtaking. The resort had a nice pool area and the staff was great. The little restaurant that looks like a hut just ouside the entrance to the Sanctuary was great. They can arrange horseback riding and scuba tours, and they also will come to the house and do massages, which were great. It is pretty far from things, but we had a blast anyway.
