In addition to its original draw as a unique island hideaway, Montserrat has become an enchanting destination for eco and volcano tourism. The Soufriere hills volcano has created a showcase of Mother natures marvels.
Eco trails continue to be a major attraction as they have been over the years. Mountain Biking, Hiking & sight seeing tours of the Tropical rain forest in and around the Center and Silver hills are now even better than before,
Volcano viewing from the Hi-tech observatory(MVO) and viewing Stations at either side of the Island, and guided tours of the buried town of Plymouth are very popular with visitors.
Scuba diving in the crystal clear waters of the rapidly developing underwater park is a must for sea lovers. The reefs in the north of the island are teeming with life, a surprising plus of Volcanic activity. There is an amazing underwater world, waiting to be explored. Fine dining and bar hopping are a must for many of the island's tourists.
Getting to Montserrat:
The nearest international airport is Antigua 27 miles away, with Direct services from New York, Newark, Philadelphia, London, Toronto, San Juan and many Caribbean islands. From North America, American Airlines offer connections via San Juan; while US Air, BWIA, Virgin Atlantic, Caledonian and Condor provide services from Europe with several flights weekly. There are daily scheduled inter island flights provided by LIAT, American Eagle which also operate in Antigua. Montserrat Visitors take a 15 minute flight from V.C Bird Intl Antigua.
