This family-friendly three bedroom, 2 bath cabin is nestled into a secluded hillside setting just above Winkler's Creek and yet is very close to Boone and all area attractions. The creek just below the cabin features a swimming hole with it's own picturesque waterfall. The large covered porch and deck with gas grill adds to the pleasure of this great vacation cabin and numerous hiking/biking trails lace the surrounding mountain ridges.

Attractions in the area are: Blue Ridge Parkway, Grandfather Mountain, Tweetsie Railroad, Mystery Hill, The Blowing Rock, Linville Caverns, Roan Mountain State Park, Appalachian State University, etc. Directions: From Highway 321 in Boone (Blowing Rock Road) turn onto Winklers Creek Road at Bojangles. Go 1 2/10 miles on Winklers Creek Road (watch road sign because Winklers Creek make an abrupt 90 degree turn) and turn left onto Rocky Creek Road. Go one block turn left onto Old Trillium Lane. Cabin is located at 182 Old Trillium Lane.

Stayed here on girls weekend out. Fabulous time. Relaxing. Had so much fun in the creek. Absolutely unforgettable. Everything you need was in the house or very near by. Cant wait to return. Would love to have a hammock and hot tub though and better mattresses - only regrets!

Great Location, Short Bed

We rented The Overlook House when we moved our daughter into Appalachian. Loved the location and the house...very comfortable and a great place to relax. Noticed the smoke detector upstairs was hanging from its wires, but that was a quick fix (if it held when I put it back up there).

My only negative about the place was the downstairs bedroom - the bed was too short, and I am not a tall guy at 5'11".
Recommended for:  Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children
