Welcome to Mika 'Alua. This fabulous, two-story, Ocean Front home features spectacular ocean views. It's in sunny Kapoho and features some of the best snorkeling in the Islands. Can be rented as a 3 bdrm/3 bath (sleeps 7) or as a 4 bdrm/4 bath including the separate cozy 'ohana (guest cottage) with its own galley kitchen. Tile and bamboo floors, beautifully and comfortably furnished, 3 of 4 bedrooms have ocean views, big lanai area, tropical breezes...Has ocean front jacuzzi and a private pool. You will not believe the amenities, all you need to make this the ultimate vacation home. Enjoy a beverage on your lanai with tropical breezes overlooking the blue Pacific Ocean. Note: Mika 'Alua is in a residential neighborhood and to be good neighbors we do not rent the house for large parties. We do not allow more than a total of 12 people on the property at any one time -subject to loss of deposit.

Our two families enjoyed this home immensely. It was just as pictured, and had many extras and thoughtful touches. The kitchen is well-equipped, and had plenty of stock items for use - and the oven worked like a charm. Our evenings in the hot-tub, enjoying the sound of the surf and the frogs will always be a fond memory for me - and our friends.
The location is fabulous. The hot pools were just a few minutes down the road, easy access to the volcano, snorkeling a short walk away... I would highly recommend this property to anyone wanting to stay on this side of the island.

Fantastic and relaxing

The best times we had in Hawaii were the times spent at this house. Sitting in the hot tub watching the waves was so relaxing. Every detail in this house was thought out. This kitchen had everything needed to cook including spices and cookbooks.

Three bedrooms have ocean views. All four bedrooms have their own merits. The only thing any of us would have changed is the master bedroom does not have a door (it is the only room at the top of a staircase.)

I found this house delivered on all promises. If it is in the ad, expect to find it in this house. All surprises we had were good ones. We would stay here again.

(A side note: If you are planning to snorkel, get some protective gloves to wear. My husband cut his hand open on a reef in the first five minutes on snorkeling and had to get stitches. Apparently, this is pretty common. Don't spend a day of your vacation at the hospital, get gloves.)

We loved this place. If you are at all interested in tide pools with beautiful fish, sea turtles, the lava flow and steam plume fisable for miles, watching beautiful sunrises from the lanai with the waves breaking on the beach outside the house, you will love this place. Everything is provided, beautiful kitchen with all appliances, spices, even the coffee. We enjoyed the jacuzzi on the back patio, and sitting on the balcony outside the master bedroom sipping champagne late at night listening to the Bo-Peeps ( tiny brown frogs that make a sound like bo-peep - their mating call). It also helps a great deal to have four wheel drive, you can go many more places in search of adventure. The house is large and the beds are very comfortable. There are numerous books to read and lots about the island and things to do. I highly recommend this place.

The property exceeded all our expectations right from the moment we entered through the bamboo gate. It was our picture-perfect idea of a Hawaiian getaway--away from the madding tourist crowd, quiet, private, closer to the local feel. I have never felt so sad to leave and wished this was my own home.

This vacation rental is top dollar value, house gorgeous and roomy. Exceeds all written descriptions. Neighborhood friendly and floral, great for walks. Pahoa grocery store 15 minutes away- very nice. Sunday Maku'u market great experience.
